Before he was making nerd girls everywhere cream, Johnny Galecki was living out a B-plot of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and helping Sara Gilbert realize she’s gay simply by dating her. She revealed this on ‘The Talk’ during “secret week”, with a statement best-read out of context.
“And we started dating and he would come over and we would, like, make out, and then I would start to get depressed.”
Seriously, I think that might just be my new favorite quote. It seems like she’s throwing shade, but, as they’re still good buds ? and former ‘Big Bang’ fuck buddies ? she was nice enough to call him up beforehand to be like “Is it okay if I go on national television and announce that making out with and dating you made me not only clinically depressed but also realize I’m gay?” Plus, according to Gilbert:
“Johnny felt badly, I think, and started to take it personally and didn’t know what was going on. So I eventually told him that I thought it was about my sexuality and he was super sweet about it.”
I’m not surprised he was “super sweet” about it, because I can’t really see him being like “Fuck you, dyke!” Plus he was probably more relieved than anything ? most guys would probably rather hear “It’s not you, dude ? it’s all men everywhere. Kissing men does as much to my vagina as knitting” than “You as an individual disgust me. Get your tongue out of my mouth this instant.”
If you remember ’90s-era Johnny Galecki, you’ll recall the Meg-Ryan-in-City–of–Angels haircut he was sporting at the time, which, let’s be honest, may have factored into Gilbert’s depression. But if his bad decisions helped her on her path to blissful lady-bangin’, I think it’s safe to say it was worth it.
