Kevin Federline Beats Britney Spears On The Super Bowl Ad Front

Digg this!

Kevin Federline Super Bowl Advert Commercial Britney Spears nationwideYou know the scary bit in Jurassic Park when everyone suddenly realises that the raptors are smart enough to pick locks and open doors? We're having a similar terrifying moment right now – it seems Kevin Federline is smart enough to mock himself.

In a just-announced TV commercial, Kevin Federline will advertise insurance by sending up his reputation as an unspeakably terrible rapper. And, by mocking himself, Kevin Federline has ended up mocking his almost ex-wife Britney Spears, too – because his advert will go out during the Super Bowl, and Britney Spears was recently turned down for a similar ad because she's such a mess. Obviously once you start sending yourself up so mercilessly it's a hop and a skip before you're ironically performing in front of wacky students in ghastly fun pubs for peanuts, but Kevin Federline should hold his head up high while he can.

Well, we certainly didn't see this one coming. After Britney Spears dumped Kevin Federline last year, we fully expected Britney to clean up her act and become a successful popstar again while Kevin disappeared in a cloud of pointlessness – but we couldn't have been more wrong. While married to Britney Spears, Kevin Federline was characterised by his irresponsible partying and being so desperate to become a rapper that he was giving away his own shoes to anyone who bought his album. Immediately after the Britney split, Kevin Federline was still scrawling bad graffiti on toilet doors while trying to act the rebel, but now it looks as if Kevin is the more respectable of the two.

Yesterday we reported that the NFL turned Britney Spears down after she wanted to be in an advert, calling her a "train wreck" thanks to all her vagina-waggling and boyfriend-puking exploits making even taxi-pissing porn star Paris Hilton seem like a more respectable choice. And now it's been revealed that Kevin Federline has scored a spot in a self-mocking Super Bowl advert for Nationwide insurance, as BBC News reports:

The advert shows 28-year-old 'K-Fed' rapping in a music video, which eventually turns out to be a daydream. Speaking to USA Today he said: "I felt that it was a good time to come out and make fun of myself." The wannabe rapper sold only 6,500 copies of his debut album, Playing with Fire, in the first week of its release. "I try not to take myself too seriously," Federline told USA Today…. "Just be ready for me in 2007," he said.

OK, so Kevin Federline is still a bit of a dick. But could this mean the impossible is going to happen? When Kevin Federline goes for his custody appointments with his kids, will he now be greeted as the more famous parent? That's terrifying – while we're pleased that Kevin Federline has finally made himself look good in the media, it's not like we want him to stay famous or anything. Christ, that might even encourage him to – shudder – release another album.
