I’ve been staying away from political blogs lately because I really don’t have time for that shit. It’s all straight up exhausting, and I’ve got enough on my plate with the shit the Kardashians pull. But sometimes Kellyanne Conway makes it really hard for me to bite my tongue.
When she’s not coining the phrase ‘Alternative Facts’ or making up massacres or trying to get a shopping network job to peddle Ivanka’s shit, she’s coming after feminism for hating dudes and babies.
The glamorous treasure that is Kellyanne recently did a Q & A at the CPAC and gave this really profound statement on feminism:
I was raised to be a very strong and independent woman without anyone ever saying the word ‘feminist’ or having a political conversation. We were taught to be free-thinking and independent. It’s difficult for me to call myself a feminist in the classic sense because it seems to be very anti-male, and it certainly is very pro-abortion, and I’m neither anti-male or pro-abortion.
First of all, feminism in the classic sense literally just means you think women should be treated equal to men, which, I get it, Kellyanne, you don’t think you’re equal to men, and that’s fine, because I don’t think you are either. Then again, I don’t think you’re equal to the rotting Jack-O-Lantern that was in my garbage bin for like 3 weeks after Halloween, but at least we’re agreeing on something.
Second of all, I’m a feminist and I happen to love men. A lot of us do! It’s actually so crazy! I love my husband, I love my son, I love my grandpa, love my dad, love a whole ton of people with penises! I’d just like to live in a world where I wasn’t constantly made uncomfortable or fearful to be a woman, ya know? Just the basic shit.
Thirdly, I honestly don’t think I’ve met another feminist who is ‘pro-abortion’? Like, what does that even mean? If you’re pro-abortion and you find out your friend is trying to get pregnant do you try to convince her to abort it as soon as she gets knocked up? ‘I know you got pregnant on purpose and WANTED to have a baby, Janine, but I really think abortion is your best option.’ Like, no! No women are going around raving about how great abortion is. It’s not going to the fucking spa, it’s an invasive and often emotionally draining procedure that like half the world will stigmatize you for doing. I feel like Kellyanne is basing her statement on a Lena Dunham interview, because that’s the only bitch I know who would loooooove to get an abortion.
In reality, most feminists are just regular gals who have men in their lives whom they love and respect, aren’t crazy about abortion but understand that it can be necessary and should be available, and would like equal rights and to not get raped. You know, just girly things!
So, please bitch, get yourself off your crazy ass high horse with your dated and skewed ideas about feminism, because no one even burns their bras anymore, frankly, I can’t go for a jog without one.
