Because now the balance of power has switched, and Kate Hudson is now the star of several terrible – yet inexplicably popular – movies and Chris Robinson is a struggling – yet inexplicably famous – singer. Could this be the reason why Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson have just announced their separation? Buggered if we know; neither Kate Hudson or Chris Robinson are giving anything away.
Of all the high(ish)-profile celebrity splits we've seen lately – Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro, that Blink 182 bloke – the separation of Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson has come as the biggest surprise. They always used to look so happy, and Kate Hudson was always quick to bat away any rumoured marriage troubles with lines like:
"We are very, very happy. There are a million wonderful things I could say about my husband. Those rumours are not true, not true, not true."
Except, um, they were true – Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson have just split up after close to six years of marriage, according to Kate Hudson's slave Brad Caferelli:
"Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson have confirmed that they are separated."
And that's it. No reasons given, no public declarations of remaining love or best friendship with each other, not even the obligatory request for privacy. Chris Robinson and Kate Hudson have split up, deal with it. That leaves us in the tricky spot of speculating why Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson separated. Perhaps Kate Hudson finally changed her mind about allowing Chris Robinson to sleep with other people if he wanted to, or perhaps Kate Hudson got sick of being in such close proximity to all the awful music that Chris Robinson and The Black Crowes have made. Our favourite theory, though, is that Kate Hudson left Chris Robinson after he commented on how thin she looked; after all, everyone knows how shitty Kate gets about her weight.
