Julie Bowen is an actress that most people probably won’t remember by name. You may find her on Ed, Boston Legal, Lost, and other television series with missing or underwhelming endings. She now portrays the typical spoiled American housewife in Modern Family.
She grew up in an affluent part of Baltimore during the 1970s. After wasting her parents’ money studying Italian Renaissance, she had fled to Italy to justify her degree. Luckily, she managed to return the USA to find work in daytime television.
She also enjoys giving confusing interviews with deep Freudian undertones because she’s probably secretly sex-starved or something.
She has a knack for playing roles movies centered around comedians with mental illnesses. She was Adam Sandler’s love interest in the exaggerated golfing comedy Happy Gilmore. She was also an extra in the movie about Michael Keaton’s various personalities Multiplicity. Like most actresses with diminishing careers, she had been invited to Jeopardy! specials in 2010.
Her most famous role so far is that of Claire Dunphy in Modern Family, where she plays super busty Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland’s mom while being a good friend to the voluptuous Sofia Vergara.
