Advance warning: you probably won’t side with anyone in this story because, well, it’s about Jon Gosselin.
And his awful wife. And his awful show. You see, earlier this week Jon Gosselin was effectively fired from his TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8, which would continue without him as Kate Plus 8. Except now Jon Gosselin has decided that if he can’t be part of Jon & Kate Plus 8 then nobody can, so he’s banned the crew from filming his kids.
Oh, and he spelt his own name incorrectly on the sign informing the crew of this. He’s a catch, that one.
This is probably going to be the most morally complex thing you’ll read all day, so get ready. Ready?
Good. It’s about Jon & Kate Plus 8, the TV show where two intrinsically horrible people make their children perform for a camera crew 24 hours a day. Now, it wasn’t so long ago that Jon and Kate Gosselin split up, citing all kinds of reasons from media pressure to Jon’s infidelity to Kate just basically being the worst person you could ever be married to. Nevertheless, in the wake of the split – and an investigation into child exploitation – Jon & Kate Plus 8 continued, even though Jon Gosselin was quite vocal about his desire to quit.
Earlier this week Jon Gosselin got his wish. He was kicked off Jon & Kate Plus 8 and told that the show would continue and Kate Plus 8, with his estranged wife taking the lead. And here’s where things get interesting.
Because, rather than dancing a happy jig over the fact that his life is now free of the media scrutiny that tore his family apart, Jon Gosselin seems to be so annoyed about getting the sack that he’s banning cameras from filming his children at all. Do you see the problem? Jon Gosselin wants to put an end to Jon & Kate Plus 8 forever – which is undoubtedly a good thing – but he’s only doing it because he’s obviously a monumental turd. We just can’t work out who to side with. While we try to figure this mess out, here’s the New York Post with details:
Last night, Jon appeared on CNN’s “Larry King Live” to say he had “an epiphany” and no longer wanted his kids to be on the show. TLC called Gosselin “self-destructive and unprofessional… He and the family were shooting as recently as last Friday, without incident, and his latest comments are grossly inaccurate, without merit and clearly opportunistic,” it said.
Incidentally, Jon Gosselin informed the TLC crew that it was banned from his property with a notice reading ‘NO FILM CREW OR PRODUCTION STAFF FROM TLC IS PERMITTED ON THIS PROPERTY UNDER PENELTY [sic] OF TRESPASS. JOHNATHON [sic] GOSSELIN’. He didn’t add the ‘[sic]’s, by the way. That would have demonstrated a frankly alarming level of self-awareness.
So, back to who to side for – should we side with Kate Gosselin, who wants to keep making the show even though it’s probably detrimental to the emotional well-being of her kids; or do we side with Jon Gosselin, who wants Jon & Kate Plus 8 to end, but only because he won’t be getting paid for it any more?
Here’s an idea – why don’t we fire both of them out of a cannon at a brick wall? The one whose internal organs leave the biggest lifeless, unidentifiable smear wins. Deal?

What a fantastic article. I want only what is best for the children. Sounds like something Kate would say; but I don’t think children are a commodity that can be bought and sold; so regardless of what the parents want someone needs to stop this ” for the children”

Remember the Megan Fox Internet moratorium that lasted one day? Can we please have a Jon and Kate moratorium that lasts the rest of my life?

It’s funny how Jon becomes interested in the kids’ well-being after they are no longer a source of income to him. Has he not used those kids to propel himself to his 15 minutes (oh GOd let them be over soon!) of fame……….complete with bimbos and partying? Would anyone care or be interested in Jon Gosselin otherwise? NOOOOO! The show should end. But, does that mean Jon will pay child support? Sell the house? Give back his sports car & quit wearing designer clothes? He is a colossal TURD.

I enjoyed this article! So much of the press this family receives is suger coasted nonsense.
I don’t care what Jon’s motivations are, I’m just happy he is attempting to stop exploiting his children. TLC knows the ratings are way down, so this is the perfect time to cancel the show.

This article has a number of mistaken facts in it. Please tell me, Heritage, have you ever seen this show?
It is irresponsible for “journalists” to write stories about a family they know nothing about.
So much that is written and reported about the Gosselins is by “writers and reporters” that know absolutely nothing about this family.
Please watch the past episodes and then write your article. I know it will state facts and not this pablum.

I almost think the show should continue for awhile, if the money can be cashed away for the kids… what the hell else are these two losers going to do for income?

What’s also funny is how you people have selecting hearing. Jon is still under TLC’s contract and will get compensated for the show. He would also make appearance in the new show..
Also, if you actually watched the show, Jon made a clear statement that he wanted out at the end of season 4.
And if you actually listened to the Larry King interview, Kate broke it off with Jon back in October 2008~

It is pretty obvious why Jon wasn’t allowed to do anything about taking the children off tv until now. Plain and simple. TLC. They are a huge corporation that had him by the knackers and wouldn’t let go, kind of like what he was used to with Kate. He let Kate make most of the major decisions and trusted people. But when TLC crossed the line, TLC threatened him with house arrest and other means and Kate threatened him with the kids. Hmmm, let me see? What are my options here? Lose my kids, get sued by a giant corporation or play the game! If you all are falling for the TLC game, don’t. TLC is guilty in this big scheme as Jon and Kate and shame on both of them for putting themselves in this position. Kate will NEVER stop. She loves fame too much. Jon, well, he is sick and tired of someone else telling him what to do with his family. I say it is about time.

What everyone is failing to see is that TLC admitted that Jon would continue to receive a paycheck with the new deal. He has chosen to forgo the $$$ and protect his kids. I don’t care if he had a few months of insanity. I’m just glad he found his mind. Also, he mentioned months ago that he wanted the show to end. No, he did not say he specifically wanted the kids off, but just saying he wanted the show to end meant the kids would be free of filming. Jon told TLC a few weeks ago that he was going on LKL to quit. They fired him when he refused to skip the LKL appearance.
Also, why can Kate go on LKL several times, talk to People and make other appearances but Jon is forbidden to appear on LKL? Sounds like a load of BS to me.
When Kate was on LKL she had to stop and think about the answers her PR team told her to use. She never spoke from her heart. Wait that means she’d have to have one. Jon just spoke his heart. He’s never professed to be a public speaker like Kate. Many times when one speaks from the heart and on live TV it is difficult to be “polished.” However, I believe his story.

Kate was able to go on Larry King because she cleared it with TLC. Jon went on Larry King without permission from TLC; a violation of his contract. Jon could be sued by TLC for his actions.
*
When Kate was on Larry King she thoughtfully answered questions. When Jon was on Larry King, his lawyer was with him and answered as many, if not more questions than Jon. At one point, Jon’s lawyer grabbed Jon’s arm to keep Jon from talking.
*
Jon has not had a few months of insanity; he’s had a few months of drinking too much. When Larry King asked Jon about Deanna, Jon confessed to being too drunk to drive and in need of a ride. When Jon did the interview with Chris Cuomo, Jon said alcoholism runs in his family and he did not want to get this disease.
*
Kate draws a line between her public life and her private life while Jon does not, or is incapable of doing so. Again, on Larry King Jon said, “The show is our life, and our life is the show. I want it to stop. I want it to be over.” Why doesn’t Jon just stop talking about his life on national TV and in tabloids?

Larry: “We shouldn’t have known about you.”
Jon: “Correct.”
Larry: “Right. Sadly.”
