Usually it’s the Queen who gives messages to her loyal subjects on Christmas Day, but JK Rowling has totally got more money than Her Majesty, so she’s decided to have a crack at one.
And the message that JK Rowling left on her website on Christmas Day was a very special one – she’s going to start writing the last-ever Harry Potter book this month. And she’s worried because she can’t imagine life without earning truckloads of cash every day Harry Potter.
Last year was probably the most successful year for Harry Potter (DVDs)
stuff so far. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince was launched in an
all-encompassing blizzard of hype that culminated in JK Rowling reading
a few pages of the book in front of a crowd of people in Edinburgh
Castle on live TV, which was great for Harry Potter superfans, but those of us without that much knowledge of the saga were left watching a woman talking about a shop for a bit. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince went on to sell in a day what that other book that people are always spazzing about – The Da Vinci Code – sold in a year.
And then there was Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire,
a film which took more box office money in its opening weekend than the
other top ten movies combined. And when Harry Potter makes money, JK
Rowling gets rich. So no wonder that she’s hesitant to put an end to
the series. In her Christmas message to her fans, JK Rowling wrote:
"2006 will
be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series. I
contemplate the task with mingled feelings of excitement and dread,
because I can’t wait to get started, to tell the final part of the
story and, at last, to answer all the questions (will I ever answer all
of the questions? Let’s aim for most of the questions); and yet it will
all be over at last and I can’t quite imagine life without Harry."
Maybe the biggest question that JK will need to answer is the one regarding Harry Potter’s mortality. Although only maybe Rowling knows for sure what happens to Harry Potter at the end of book, others are convincing themselves that Harry Potter will get killed.
The boy that plays Harry Potter in the movies – Daniel Radcliffe – has said that he hopes Harry Potter croaks at the end of HP7, while the man who provides the voices for the US audiobooks of the Harry Potter series – Jim Dale - seems certain that JK Rowling wants to kill off Potter. JK herself remains vague in her Christmas message:
"Sometimes, even at this stage, you can see trouble looming; nearly all of the six published books have had Chapters of Doom."

ok basically all you people are is doing your job and getting payed bloody good money id say to do so! So it dosnt matter to you if the stuff you write is true as long as you get a paycheck you dont give a damn. So what im saying of couse is half the stuff you write is a pile of rubish junk thats not enen worth anyones time. BUt im not saying that harry might not die or he might but still its JKs book, its her job why not let har do her job without people critisizing the way she does it!!!

Oh no, he can’t die *cries* Its bad enough the series is ending, so why make it worse by ending Harrys life. Please save him, I dont care about what happenes in the 7th book until it comes out, unless he dies -.- So dont kill him PLEASE…PL-L-LEASE…well thats all I have to say.

Hi my name is Jesse and I am 14. I live in colorado, USA. I jest want to say that, if Harry Potter dies then that would be interesting to see what happens next but if he dose not maybe J.K. can do a life in Harry’s adult life? any ways I jest wanted to shear what I thought.
It really does seem that the only feasible ending for the saga is the ultimate death of Harry Potter and the demise of Lord Voldemort. I am inclined to believe that is/was what Ms. Rowling has or had in mind, but with all the buzz going on about it – she might very well change her mind or give an entirely different ending.
I really think that in the last book, Harry should find the Horcruxes and destroy Voldemort. Pleeease don’t kill off Harry. What would we do without him?
One suggestion could be to read a proper book.
oh please don’t kill of HARRY POTTER…. I don’t want to see him die…. He should be the hero. And get a love affair with some other people in the book… Then have a story about Harry as an adult…. What would it be like without Harry Potter….

I have it on good authority that Rowling intends to kill off Harry Potter by drilling into her own head.
Voldemort will step from the pages of the book (because if enough people read and believe – things come true) and kill Harry Potter and her creator, in one swoop, by binding J.K with a drilling spell.
She won’t be able to stop herself as the whirring bit approaches her temple and he’ll just laugh and laugh between sips of Hermione’s menstrual blood.

I am from Serbia. Many adults i know are enjoying in reading Harry (1,2,3,4,5,6) and everyone can’t wait 7th book.Only i can said – i understand if Harry must die, book must have an end. But J.K.R. will disappoint many kids on the EARTH!

Aw, Please don’t kill him. He is like my idol! I COULDN’T SURVIVE WITHOUT HIM! If he dies I’ll go crawl in a hole and suck my thumb for the rest of my life! Blade almost died at the end of those Blade movies, I cried for days! And he ALMOST died! I know it isn’t real, but isn’t it bad enough that guy died in The Goblet Of Fire? And that Sirus Black died in The Order Of the Phoenix?! Please, I beg of you, don’t kill him! End it by killing Voldemort or something. Oh, and please don’t kill off Draco Malfoy, he’s my er… 5th favorite character. I dreamed of writing a series as good as the HP series, and if I had your fame and glory I would be proud of it and continue to write stories all the way through Potter’s adult hood. Hm, another suggestion would be kill off Hermione or Ron instead of Harry. I hope you get this message!

i don’t want anyone to die. i love all of your books im currently reading the sixth one and i loved them all. i hope the seventh [and i know it] that it will be as good as the others.
I’d hate it if Harry, Ron, Hermione, or Draco died. I don’t mind about the others- oh, actually, I love Fred, George, Ginny and Neville, but…
All I really want is for Draco to stay bad. He can’t turn good. It just wouldn’t seem right! I know it’s weird, but I’d rather him die bad, than live good. However, if JK does change him, we’ll know she did it for a very good reason. I just love the conflict between Draco and Harry!

I think that Hagrid and Ron will die, not Remus!
Hagrid and Ron are Harry’s best friends (yes, Hermione is also his best friend, but I think Harry likes Ron a little bit more, ’cause he’s not so… yes, Ron’s not like Hermione)
He doesn’t have any family and he can see Ron and Hagrid every day and tell them everything
Fact is, that they are very important to Harry and so I think they’ll die
I hope that Tonks and Lupin will stay alive! They are soooo sweet!!!
