When a sham marriage that exists purely to milk every last financial drop from a pointless reality TV show comes to an end, it can be hard on everyone involved – especially when you're Jessica Simpson and you don't really have other discernible talents.

Hypothetically that's true anyway – in reality Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were head over heels in love with each other. Their marriage was 100% genuine and it's just a coincidence that they split up right after The Newlyweds ended. And if you want proof that Jessica Simpson's love is real, she'll happily tell you how much it hurt to see Nick Lachey pimping himself out in magazines with another woman that wasn't her right after she dumped him because he wasn't on the telly any more.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were a match made in heaven – Jessica's bewildering lack of intelligence, bright orange skin and slightly mannish jaw offset itself perfectly against Nick Lachey's total lack of everything. And when Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey filmed their marriage for MTV, it was a big hit. And then it wasn't. And then Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey split up. 

After Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's divorce, the former couple went their different ways to tremendous effect. Jessica Simpson was able to divide her time between croaking out a mangled tribute to Dolly Parton onstage, crying and extended bouts of man-scaring, while Nick Lachey wanked out an album about how Jessica Simpson made him sad, toured his weeping revue around America and got off with MTV VJ Vanessa Minnillo all the time in front of everyone. And that's what hurts Jessica Simpson the most, as Sky reports:

"Oh, it hurt me. Two or three weeks later? Yeah, I'd say it kind of hurt me." The couple divorced in December 2005 after three years of marriage, which were documented in the MTV show Newlyweds. Jessica revealed about the programme: "I didn't twist his arm. I didn't say, 'I'm going to leave you if we don't do it.' "I'm happy I did the show. I'm happy I was married. I'm happy that he was in my life. I have no regrets. Not one."

Not one single regret in your entire life? We have to hand it to Jessica Simpson here – she's a brave girl. If our Dad started leching over our tits like a milk-hungry tramp in public, we'd classify that as a regret. But not Jessica Simpson. Oh no.
