Most people hate goodbyes. Except in the case of saying goodbye to ‘Jersey Shore.’ The show’s departure had the world applauding in unison. Although, I do find it odd that for having so many people hate it, it’s MTV’s most watched series ever.
At any rate, the cast members went out with a fist pump last night, and to the delight of many, this might just mark the beginning of never having to hear from these people again. Well, perhaps we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. We still have the Snooki & JWoww spinoff to contend with.
The last episode consisted of everything Jersey Shore has come to be known for: fighting, drinking and Deena eating a piece of cake that had been teabagged.
The show ran for three years and six seasons, making ‘Snooki’ and ‘The Situation’ household names. Barbara Walters even included the ‘Jersey Shore’ cast members among her “10 Most Fascinating People” list in 2010. But I suppose train wrecks are fascinating.
But there is something endearing about the cast, perhaps even redeeming?they’re quite self-aware. And that’s something, right? For example, during the ‘Jersey Shore’ After Hours special, cast member Vinny Guadagnino said:
“Anyone who knocked up Snooki should be prepared to get made fun of.”
During the stars’ farewell goodbyes, Snooki made it clear that she’s aware she’s not a well-liked icon, overall. “Everybody still hates me,” she admitted, thanking her fans anyway.
And while we’re all jumping for joy about the end of Jersey Shore, the cast has taken it hard. Jenni “JWoww” Farley admitted:
?I'm afraid of watching it live before the reunion because we're going live and we're all going to cry and be on stage. Bloodshot eyes, mascara, eyeliner running down like, ?oh my god,? because I cried in the last episode.?
She added: “my tanning bronzer was running down my chest, stained my shirt — that’s how bad it was.?
And Snooki cried so much she “had to take her eyelashes off.”
The show’s ending has these people coming undone. Literally.
As thrilled as you might be that ‘Jersey Shore’ is finally over, don’t jump for joy just yet. Snooki, JWoww and Vinny all have plans to continue spinoff shows on MTV next year, so this isn’t the last we’ll be hearing from this crew, not by far. What’s more, Pauly D is in talks with E! to create another reality show about his life.
Brace yourselves.
