Everyone loves Glee, don’t they? Obviously by ‘everyone’ we actually mean ‘women and gay men and nobody else’.
Oh, and Jennifer Lopez. But she doesn’t count because we’ve seen a picture of her and she’s definitely either a woman or a gay man. But anyway, Jennifer Lopez likes Glee so much that she’s being lined up to guest star in a future episode as a hilarious cafeteria lady.
Lots more details about Jennifer Lopez’s Glee appearance coming up, but they’ll probably only really be of interest if you like both Glee and Jennifer Lopez. What we’re trying to say is that 98% of you would rather jab pins into your eyes than continue reading.
If you like that sort of thing, then Glee is almost the perfect show. It’s got everything – social outcasts, annoying versions of songs you didn’t like in the first place and rage-inducing wordplay. It’s not quite the perfect internet-age show – for that to happen the cast would need to be replaced with kittens and a multi-episode arc about a sad vampire boy who can’t find his shirt would have to be written in – but it’s close.
And, look, all of a sudden Jennifer Lopez wants to be involved. That’s because she loves Glee, by the way, and not because she’d proclaim to be a fan of a reality show about people eating dogturds filled with shards of broken glass if it meant that people would pay attention to her for a couple of seconds. No, really, she loves it.
Anyway, because she’s such a fan of Glee – and not because she’s got a new film and album coming out soon and she’d probably kick a homeless man to death in a neon zoot suit if it meant that she’d have a platform to promote them – Jennifer Lopez is apparently eager to star in an episode. Of course, for that to happen she’d have to wait until the show became so bereft of ideas that it was forced to cynically rely on keeping viewers entertained by shoehorning in guest stars at any opportunity, and that’s not likely to happen for several…
What? Next season? Oh. PA reports:
The 40-year-old actress and singer is in the frame to play a dinner lady in the show, which scooped a Golden Globe for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy this week. Show creator Ryan Murphy told People: “I have a meeting with Jennifer Lopez in a couple of weeks – she wants to come on, we want her to be a cafeteria lady.”
Now, it’s not a done deal yet. Jennifer Lopez hasn’t officially agreed to appear on Glee yet – a star like her will probably have to have all kinds of stipulations drawn into her contract, like one stating that at some point her character will get to save the world and then everyone will take turns at saying how wonderful she is – but it seems fairly likely to happen.
And that’s bound to be great news for people who like both Glee and Jennifer Lopez. Or ‘weirdos’, as we like to call them.

I bet you like Glee, really. You’re just a bit ashamed.
I tried watching it, it was a chore after 5 minutes. I gave up. It must have that subliminal wave that turns your brain into mush that all the ‘top’ shows have.
I found Glee really horrible; tuned in at beginning of its buzz to see what the fuss was – could not find one redeeming feature about it. The fact that this a ‘top’ show apparently enjoyed by so many added to my self-determination that it’s fantastic to be considered not quite ‘normal’.
It’s obvious why JLo wriggling her way into this show.
