Jennifer Lopez And The Anti-Fur Protests
You may have noticed, but Jennifer Lopez (CDs) is a favourite target of ours. And there are so many reasons why this is the case. Her constant name changes, her bad songs. the fact that her constant singing about just being a normal girl clash with her dangerously unstable ego.
Now she’s angered PETA, the animal rights group, by featuring fur extensively in her Sweetface clothing collection.
On Tuesday night, Lopez was met with a barrage of animal protest outside the studio of The Late Show With David Letterman, where she was recording an interview. A man actually lunged at her as she walked past, though this didn’t seem to phase her.
Fur isn’t a good fashion choice for two reasons, firstly it simply
doesn’t look very good. Maybe our consciousness has been altered by
seeing Cruella DeVille in books since we were babies, but that’s
what we think. The second reason is that a fur coat is really bloody
difficult to clean if you’ve puked a litre of cider and a KFC
megabucket down it.
However, who are people going to trust more? A beautiful popstar at
the premiere of her latest movie, or the bunch of shrieking idiots who
have specially prepared a selection of dead skinned animals to wave at her?
The method of protest is all wrong. The ‘I’d Rather Go Naked’
campaign worked, because the people that needed to listen – young,
image-conscious females – were targeted by people they respected:
people who worked in the fashion industry. Once PETA had their
attention, things could change. And they did.
But who is going to listen to an angry student with a carcass and a tin of red paint?
Jennifer has also received death-threats
from activists which, considering their value for life, seems a bit out
of place. Maybe they just like animals more than people, like the
strange woman we used to know who had a houseful of cats, and was
convinced that she could read feline minds.
We really should point out that we don’t condone the use of fur for
fashion whatsoever – especially when the animals are treated so cruelly,
as nobody can deny they are.
But isn’t there another, more mature way to protest? One that
doesn’t make the protesters immediately look like an angry mob trying
to set fire to a witch?
[story by Stuart Heritage]

I love animals and hate to see cruelty against them, but how come this is such a big deal lots of fashion desgners use fur lots of celebries wear them!!! Why JLO or is it that you white people hate to see minorities become succesfull!!!
Oh jesus, not this again. Is that a fur on your shoulder Bernicce or a big chip? What’s worse about that comment? The ‘you white people’ bit or the assumption that the author is white?
PS – I’m a whitey and I hate myself. How I sleep at night with my pale skin is a mystery to science.
Fuck the whitey and fuck the minorities, they all suck.
WtW
No metter who you are whitey or minorities
Let’s focus on what this story says that
we must love…peace!!!
why can’t people leave jennifer alone, it is her choice to wear fur and it is the protesters choice no to everyone is alowed choices so let her get on with her life without worrying about what she is wearing. if people dont care what she is wearing then she will stop wearing the furs. i dont think she should be parading around in the furs but i like her music and respect her for not being beaten by the protesters.
