I always hoped, in an art-intersects-with-real-life way (term “art” used loosely),?that one day Janet Jackson would?marry the guy who played Willis on Diff’rent Strokes.
Charlene (Janet’s character)?and Willis?(played by Todd Bridges) were a nice couple and it was borderline tragic when they broke up during Season 6, no thanks to that pesky Arnold. While it still could happen … never say never … a Willis-Charlene wedding seems?less likely now?given recent reports that Janet is engaged to marry Qatari billionaire?Wissam Al Mana.
I will admit that if Janet is looking for a man with financial stability, Wissam is probably a better bet than Todd Bridges. In addition to being a shareholder in Saks Fifth Avenue,?Wissam is the managing director of Al Mana Retail, which represents A/X Armani Exchange. He’s pretty loaded.
Wissam (who is nine years younger than 46-year old Janet) proposed at some point earlier this year with a 15 carat diamond ring. Fifteen fucking carats. For you hillbillies, that’s roughly the size of a ping pong ball. A?touch showy, yes, but I’m sure Janet didn’t complain.
If anonymous reports about the wedding are to be believed, the size of the bling is absolutely?indicative of the style of wedding Janet and Wissam plan to throw. Emirates 24/7 quotes a wedding insider as saying the wedding will be?extravagant to say the least.
“Wissam is going to splash big when he marries Janet. It’s going to be the wedding of the century.”
Supposedly the couple is planning a $20 million spring wedding in Qatar, with the 500 guests flown to Doha on private jets at an estimated cost of merely $3 million. Also, each wedding guests will reportedly receive a $10,000 Rolex watch.
I’m sure Wissam is a hell of a nice guy, but I do hope that?Janet chooses to?retain her own name, at least for professional purposes. ‘Mrs. Al Mana if you’re nasty’ doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

I am very happy for Ms Jackson, if this article is true. I wish her and Mr Al Mana the very best!
