We all boast from time to time.
You know the score – little white lies on your CV that pitch you as having 'exceptional computer skills' when you actually mean you're quite good at playing Grand Theft Auto. Or describing yourself as 'average build' on a dating site when you're actually so fat you require planning permission to step outside.
None of us can hold a candle, however, to film director-type James Cameron: quite possibly the most self-aggrandising man on the planet. Cameron – who once proclaimed himself the King Of The World because he made a movie about a posh girl and a ladyboy trapped on a sinking ship – is now officially pushing aside all pretenders to the throne by blurting out his most ludicrous statement yet.
Something about finding Jesus's coffin.
According to Yahoo:
DNA evidence and statistical analysis of a set of 2,000-year-old stone coffins found in Jerusalem in 1980 suggest they once held the remains of Christ and his family. Cameron said tests on human residue taken from the ossuaries believed to be those of Jesus and Mary Magdalene indicates they might have been a couple.
In an upcoming documentary for the Discovery Channel (now clearly deviating from its sharks and Nazis remit), james Cameron will tell the world that:
"It doesn't get bigger than this. We've done our homework. We've made the case. And now it's time for the debate to begin."
The debate presumably being: 'is this genuine or all part of some strange promotional stunt for an upcoming movie?' Because let's face it – if this Jesus coffin claim did turn out to be some huge PR trick for an unspecified James Cameron project, the wrath of the Religious Right would surely be incurred.
Who knows? It could even be as bad as the time we entered that Islamic Film Festival with our debut feature The Prophet Mohammed Is A Big Homo Sissy.
But probably not.

Is it just me, but how can DNA prove that they were a couple? I admit it’s been a while since I’ve studied biology, but I’m pretty sure that DNA can be used to establish whether or not people are related but not whether or not they used to have sex. And out of curiosity, whose DNA are they comparing it to – when I last checked we didn’t have a confirmed descendant of either Jesus or Mary of Magdalene to compare to any DNA that the charming Mr Cameron may or may not have “found”
Will says
Great points there Holly. That really had me stuck also on what DNA they were comparing it to? James needs to quit looking for all of these buried treasures and look for a new Terminator script. But, I guess to be fair there is only one way to really know if its Jesus or not. Use the discovered DNA to contruct/clone a new one, take the clone to the ocean and if he can walk it, Cameron has just one-uped Mel Gibson!

Its so easy to discard this that I can’t but help to laugh. James Cameron obviously didn’t do his homework. Jesua (Jesus) is the name on his little tomb huh? Well guess what, Jesus was a Jew and his name wasn’t Jesus. His name was Yehoshawa (meaning Joshua). Later the Greeks to separate him from others because his name was so common –as is Mary and Joseph, renamed him “Iesous”. The English name “Jesus,” which later employed the letter “J”.
This name “Jesus” commonly used in Christianity today did not exist and would not be spelled with the letter “J” until about 500 years ago. James Cameron is a fool.

This is an extremely offensive comment which provokes hatred and extremism among all muslims in the world towards west. A person from any religion should
not bear such thing if said to his father, let alone a prophet who should be respected by all and sundry. I as a muslim respect every prophet and every religion
being practiced today and would not say any thing bad about gods worshiped by hindus or prophets of other religion and expect the same from other human
beings.
C J Davies, you should be ashamed of yourself.
James says
Don’t be such a fucking idiot Mr Muhammad. Is your prophet so weak that you can’t let a comment on a website such as this pass without brining out the old “extremely offensive….provokes hatred and extremism” bollocks. What is wrong with people if it takes material like this to induce EXTREMISM?!!! Are you fucking kidding??!!!! And besides, read the article again, note the name of the website, have a look around at the other articles…. now do you still think the article is peddling religious hate? I don’t think so.

Muhammad… no provacation is needed to provoke hatred and extremism among all muslims in the world… Such reactions are imature and childish. Your religion should have done more for you than to provoke that sort of reaction.

Now… what was up with Camerons little hat? What religeon is he? I’m just wondering because He wore it in the documetory and also in the interview with Ted Copell…
