Jackson Katrina Single Update – Mariah Says Yes

Digg this!

Charity_1From The Bottom Of My Heart, the unfortunately-titled charity single that Michael Jackson has written to raise money for the Hurricane Katrina relief fund, has had some celebrity backing.

The list of artists that have signed up to warble on the single is growing all the time, and now Mariah  ‘African children are my friends’ Carey is the latest name attached to the song.

We’ll admit that we kind of expected this song not to happen.
Michael Jackson (CDs) has something of a habit of making big announcements
after tragedies about big charity singles, then not actually recording
them. But this time, it looks like he’s going to pull it off.

We were also a bit concerned that the stars of today would not want
to associate themselves too much with Jackson these days, especially
after members of his jury said things like "No doubt in my mind
whatsoever, that boy was molested"
on global television after his trial.

But according to Michael’s spokeswoman Raymone Bain, he’s already
recruited a long list of acts for From The Bottom Of My Heart. Lenny Kravitz, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Ciara, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds,
Yolanda Adams, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige
and the
O’Jays are already waiting to perform, as are James Brown, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z.

And now Mariah Carey (CDs) has put her name down to do some high-pitched
whooping over the fade-out. But is that enough? No way, says Bain:

"Mr. Jackson is continuing to reach out to artists who would like to
work with him on this project, which he humbly hopes will make a
tremendous difference to all individuals who have been affected by this
tragedy."

Let’s hope people actually get to hear this one, eh Michael?
