If ever you wanted proof that bellowing a homophobic slur at the top of your voice in front of a room of appalled people is stupid wrong, just look at Jim Davidson – and then, more relevantly, look at Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy.
Or rather, look at Isaiah Washington who used to be on Grey's Anatomy but isn't any more. Word is out that Isaiah Washington's endless efforts to salvage his career after he called fellow Grey's Anatomy star TR Knight a "faggot" have failed, with ABC executives confirming that Washington won't be invited back onto the show. As a response, Isaiah Washington has released a statement saying "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore" which – while brief, derivative and cryptic – is at least a step up from "WOOOAARH! I'LL KILL YOU, YOU FAGGOT! I'LL KILL YOU!" which is what most of us were expecting if we're honest.
Different workplaces always have their own funny little rules, don't they? Maybe there's a doughnut fund you're expected to contribute to, or an idiosyncratic way you need to re-order more toner from supplies. One of the weird little guidelines in place on the set of confusingly popular American hospital drama Grey's Anatomy, for example, is that you aren't really supposed to have a giant actor-fight with a co-star while screaming gay jibes at another co-star so violently that he ends up admitting to the world that he's gay. It's faux pas like this that have cost Isaiah Washington his job.
Ever since he called TR Knight a "faggot" on the set of Grey's Anatomy, Isaiah Washington has done all he can to stop himself getting the sack. First Isaiah Washington apologised, then he apologised again with a bit more feeling, then he apologised directly at some gays and then he went to rehab even though a rehab facility for people who hate gay people doesn't actually exist. That's how desperate Isaiah Washington was to keep his job. But nothing – not even those odd adverts about how much Isaiah Washington loves gay people now – could stop ABC from firing him. E! Online reports:
ABC Television Studio confirmed to E! News Thursday that Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy this fall. Publicist Howard Bragman said that Washington got a call earlier in the day informing him that he was "not invited back to the show next season," prompting this Network-inspired statement from the 43-year-old actor: "I’m mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."
Quite what Isaiah Washington means when he says he's not going to take it anymore is completely beyond us. Is Isaiah planning to take some kind of legal action against ABC and Grey's Anatomy? Will Isaiah try to convince executives to give him another shot? Or will he just plough down to the Grey's Anatomy set and angrily punch holes in everything while simultaneously slurring its sexuality? We wouldn't like to guess, but, you know, previous experience and everything…
Anyway, Isaiah Washington shouldn't feel too down about losing a job on a rubbishy hospital drama – he's an actor of great experience with previous roles in Crooklyn, Hollywood Homicide and Steven Seagal's Exit Wounds, so we expect that new job offers have already started to come flooding in for him, which will help him make a clean break from all this nonsense he's involved in now. In fact, we've heard that you'll be able to see Isaiah Washington bounce back this autumn in a hilarious new family sitcom called Woooaargh I'll Kill You You Faggot I'll Kill You.

As a gay man, and proud of it, it is very disturbing to her that an African American is so homophobic. Shouldn’t this guy be more sympathetic to gays issues? In my case I have been always sympathetic with what happened and what is happening to Africa Americans. I guess it is just human nature to put down others with similar discrimination issues to make them feel better. That’s all what it is. I would like to ask Mr. Isaiah Washington: what do you fear? Aren’t you sure of what you are? Didn’t you learn anything from history?

As an enlightened gay man (and attorney), I understand that some people do not like black people because of their experiences with them. That is sad. I hope those people
can find a way to like black people. Personally, I love some black people, but some of them are the essense of nothingness; I loathe them.
I also love (no, not like that) some gay people, but some of them are the essense of nothingness: I loathe them.
When did this become a country that hates and fires people simply because of their beliefs (that, whether you want to believe it or not are ENTIRELY experience oriented)?
This country sucks from both the left and the Fascist right.
