Isaac Hayes Exhausted, Hospitalised, Better Now Thanks

That Isaac Hayes is one exhausted mother / Shut your mouth / I’m talking ’bout Isaac Hayes / Then we can dig it. That’s how Theme From Shaft would go if it was about Isaac Hayes being exhausted. And not about a black private dick who’s a sex machine to all the chicks.

It’s always a little bit dubious when celebrities check themselves into hospitals for exhaustion - as it’s a word often used to cover a multitude of sins - but we hope it was really the case for Isaac Hayes, who was hospitalised for that exact reason on Tuesday.

Isaac Hayes (DVDs), despite being one of the most groundbreaking composers
of pop music that the world has ever seen, is probably most famous for his
1998 South Park hit Chocolate Salty Balls. Whether or not that had
anything to do with the 63-year-old singer checking himself into a
Memphis hospital for exhaustion on Tuesday is probably entirely
irrelevant.

Usually when a personality cites exhaustion as a reason for checking
into hospital, they usually mean that they’re secretly addicted to drugs, or
secretly have an eating disorder, or are secretly . But David Porter, the
longtime songwriting partner of Isaac Hayes, insists that Isaac genuinely was just really bloody knackered. He told the Memphis Commercial
Appeal:

"He’s just overworked
and had been in Atlantic City performing, the D.C. area performing, and
in Tunica a couple of nights ago. He was just overworked. That’s it in
a nutshell … He’s much better. He’s doing much
better."

Hayes is due to play a concert at the House Of Blues in New Orleans tomorrow. At the moment it is unclear whether this will still go ahead, or if Isaac would just prefer to just have a nice sit down instead.
