It’s the American Idol final this week. And for the first time in ages, the American Idol final represents something more than mediocre singer vs mediocre singer or, as was the case in the first season, fat woman vs crap-haired tossbandit. No, this year American Idol is a battle between Adam Lambert and Kris Allen – a man who might be gay vs a man who could also feasibly be gay on account of his stupid puppydog eyes and girl’s voice.
But let’s focus on Adam Lambert. During our endless, endurance-testing American Idol recaps it’s become clear that Adam Lambert possibly has the most vocal, enthusiastic gang of supporters of any American Idol contestant ever. They even call him the new Elvis Presley, unaware that the comparison means he’ll die an obese mess in 20 years while trying to shake a bus-sized turd out of his anus.
However, there’s one thing that might stop Adam Lambert from winning American Idol. And that’s not the fact that he occasionally sings like a dolphin in a microwave – it’s because he might be gay. Possibly.
Despite all the speculation, Adam Lambert likes to keep his sexuality close to his chest – in that he literally couldn’t look any gayer if he performed I’m Every Woman in the American Idol final while dressed as everyone from The Village People at once in a set made to resemble Hampstead Heath, but he hasn’t actually admitted anything yet. Would announcing his homosexuality hurt Adam Lambert’s chances of winning American Idol? We’ll find out this week, because that’s apparently what he’s done. The New York Daily News reports:
“American Idol” finalist Adam Lambert wasn’t coy about his love life when he and other “AI” contestants got together the other night at Burbank’s Outback Steakhouse. Lambert called the dude with him “my boyfriend,” says a spy.
So is that conformation? It’s hard to say – Adam Lambert might have reportedly referred to his companion as ‘my boyfriend’ but, on the other hand, aren’t gay people supposed to have good taste? And isn’t eating at a garish quesadilla-heavy Australian-themed chain restaurant the exact scientific opposite of good taste? Maybe this isn’t as concrete as we thought.
All we know is, even if Adam Lambert does turn out to be gay, it’s hardly going to tear apart the fabric of American Idol, is it? Which is a shame, really, because we genuinely can’t overstate how much that show annoys us.

I love that Kris is in the finale because he is very talented as well. His versions of “Falling Slowly” and “Heartless” were fantastic. And I don’t have to tear Kris down to make Adam look better. When RUBEN STUDDARD won it proved how many churches had their people call in. Ruben was a nice guy, but did NOT have the best voice! His records didn’t sell that well. I liked him as a person, but not so much as a singer. The CHRISTIAN right have a lot of pull, as do the 8 to 14 year old kids. This time they loved KRIS!
This country still can’t handle scandal. The photos of ADAM in drag were too much for them to handle. Personally, I still called in over and over for ADAM!
Chris Daughtry mentioned that it might be even better NOT TO WIN first place. He said you can start up with your own band much sooner as a runner up. You get a record deal, and the backing without the hassle of being stuck with the AMERICAN IDOL IMAGE.
I believe the contract to perform with and for IDOL, and to be under their supervision and complete control is for a number of years for the winner, while the others are free after the tours are up, unless they sign a record deal, and then they are connected to the record producers and companies, not IDOL. They have more freedom to be themselves, or whomever they want to become.
Adam is most likely better off to have come in second to the title. KRIS is a nice guy with some talent and is young enough to be molded and recorded and made to sound good enough to sell records. He plays instruments and is versatile, but he is not as strong in the vocals or performance ability as some.
BUT ADAM IS AS GOOD AS FREDDY MERCURY, (whose voice I loved!) and as cute as ELVIS, and I for one can’t hardly wait to see what records he comes out with, or shows …. or a NEW BAND behind him! ADAM is EXCITING ON STAGE! (I can’t help but wonder what he looks like with his natural hair color and no makeup. He is probably adorable!)

It’s surprising to see just how many people are still stuck with such old-fashioned views. It’s not gay people that are the problem (most of them just want to be happy and left alone); it’s usually the ignorant, narrow-minded Christians. They’re the ones that are violent and say horrible things to gay people just because they believe that homosexuality is wrong. I equate discrimination against gays to racism. You hate someone because of their sexual preference? That’s like hating someone because of their skin color. Some people just can’t help that they are gay; that’s just who they are.
And when did Adam Lambert’s sexual preference even become an issue? American Idol is not a competition to see who’s straighter. It’s a question of vocal talent. His sexuality has no effect whatsoever on the amount of talent he has. And he has A LOT of it. That’s the bottom line.
Also, the “best” arguments that can be made AGAINST homosexuality are: “Gays is wrong. Fags suck.” Really? How mature. Your opinion offers no new information and the only intention is to be controversial and start an argument that will get nowhere. And it’s not backed up by any sort of logic or fact at all. And then there’s, “God intended for man and woman to be together and says that homosexuality is sin.” Okay, that one has slightly more validity. But only to the extent of people who practice Christianity and agree that homosexuality is wrong. Although this country was founded on Christian principles and God is mentioned, it does not say that gay is wrong or that they shouldn’t be able to legally marry.
It DOES say that discrimination is illegal. And then there’s the Full Faith and Credit clause. That basically means that if you’re married one state, then all states have to honor that marriage. So, if a gay couple can get married in Connecticut, for example, then Texas would have to honor that marriage whether they allow gay marriages to take place in their state or not.
So, the argument FOR gays is stronger and backed by more logic and fact than the argument AGAINST them. It’s good to have religion and be able to practice it, but it’s wrong to tell someone how to live their life because it’s different from your own beliefs. Turn it around: Christianity is wrong, you can’t live your life the way you want and just be happy. What’s that you say? “That doesn’t make any sense because how can Christianity be wrong? WHY is it wrong? Why can’t I just live my life the way I want to? I’m not hurting anyone.” Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s how gays feel. Sometimes they don’t CHOOSE to be gay, but you CHOOSE to be offended. Being offended is a CHOICE.
I’m only seventeen and if I can come to this conclusion, then I don’t see how any other educated individual can’t at least acknowledge the other side. Seriously, why can’t people just be different without be hated? You can’t say you love this country and everything that it stands for in one breath and then denounce gays in the next. That’s a major contradiction because this country is SUPPOSED to be structured to allow for change because that’s what is supposed to make America great. How can this country be a united one if people can’t get along because of simple differences?

The point is – it’s AMERICAN IDOL. These days living a gay or bi lifestyle is becoming more and more a CHOICE.
