Leslie Nielsen is fantastic in what he does but Ricky Gervais writes, directs,produces and acts in some really great innovative shows like The Office and Extras. I believes this warrants a longer conversation/interview. No need to argue who is better and who did what but just because he’s moved on doesn’t make Nielsen a better or more creative individual than Gervais.

Is this a joke? Leslie Nielsen provided more laughs in Police Squad that Ricky Gervais has in his entire career. And that’s just the beginning – what about the spoof classic Airplane? It pretty much defined the spoof genre for decades to come. Or maybe you like your movies a bit more serious, because Nielsen has been turning in superb performances since the 1950s. Yes, the 1950s. Forbidden Planet? The Poseidon Adventure? Do these names mean anything to you?

Of course they don’t. You’re a kid and you’ve never seen a Leslie Nielsen movie beyond Naked Gun. That’s fine but trust me, you’re doing yourself a serious diservice if you’re not willing to investigate the career of this great actor. And despite his amazingly illustrious career, Nielsen still has something that Gervais doesn’t – modesty.

So no, you’re right, we clearly don’t need a round 2 do we?

Tom J, are you suggesting that Leslie Neilsen in some way deserved a longer interview than Leslie Neilsen.
Ok let’s do this:

The Office – one of the most successful and most imitated sitcoms of all time.
vs
The Naked Gun – Ahem…

I dont think we need a round 2. The only thing funny about Neilsen is that people let him make movies in the first place, and that’s sort of a joke outside of him.

I just really like this guy. I like him so much I can overlook the fact that this film wasn’t nearly as funny as it should have been.

If only for the scene with King Philip Seymour Hoffman.

I love the New Poster even though it`s more of a drama ,Ricky still messes around by trying to look cool in the background, making a Brent face. It looks mental ,all the youngsters,then him in the background, I can`t stop laughing,pure genius.
