I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Betting Odds - Early Elimination Odds
Then buzz it up
November 23rd, 2005 at 11:00 by Stuart Heritage
It didn’t take long for the contestants on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here to spontaneously burst into song. If you missed it, imagine a normal person singing - only a billion times more needy and desperate.
Now that Antony ‘Blue’ Costa, Jenny ‘Atomic Kitten’ Frost and Sid ‘Failed Solo Career’ Owen have all done the awful chummy sing-song shtick, are we any closer to discovering how popular each I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant is? We know that Elaine Lordan has left the show because she kept falling over, but what of the others?
Although the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here eliminations don’t begin until next week, now’s a good time to start betting on it - the favourite’s odds are only going to get lower than they are now.
So here’s the first look at the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here first elimination betting odds, with help from Betfair.com…
David Dickinson - Appearing on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here
has widened David’s appeal from the elderly and ironic students to the
entire country. The British just love his squeaky voice, amiable
leadership skills and ridiculous hair. And the betters are saying that
he won’t be eliminated first. Current odds - 50
Sid Owen - Sid Owen went into the jungle as favourite to win I’m A
Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. And, even though he’s shown that he
doesn’t know the difference between up and down and keeps complaining
about how hard being in a forest for a day is, he’s probably going to
make it past the first elimination without any trouble. Constantly worried that he’ll wet himself, mind you. Current odds -
40
Jimmy Osmond - Jimmy Osmond has a lot of fans. He’s the
cutesy-wutesy toothy American who will forever tug at the heartstrings
of women of a certain age. He keeps breaking into song, seemingly in
the hope that a big-shot record producer will see him and decide that
42-year-old chubby Mormons are the future of music. Anyway, the fans
are going to keep him in, at first at least. Even if he’s not very good at taking stars off kangaroos. Current odds - 26
Sheree Murphy - We think we’ve sussed Sheree Murphy out. She’s
playing the big anonymity tactic - staying behind the scenes in the
first week and then becoming more dominant when people start getting
voted off. It must be her strategy. Either that or she’s naturally as
dull as shit. However she’s playing the game, she’s unlikely to be the
first evicted from the series. Current odds - 25
Antony Costa - Not only was Antony the quiet one that stood in the
background in Blue, he’s also turning out to be the quiet one that
stands in the background of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. He
tried singing to his camp-mates, and wasn’t very good; he tried
stringing a sentence together, and wasn’t very good at that either. But
fans of Blue will probably keep him in for the time being. Current odds
- 13.5
Carol Thatcher - There’s a huge gender divide in this betting
market. The women are all more likely to be eliminated than the men.
And in the middle of the gender divide, in so many senses, is Carol
Thatcher. She drove a car off a plank of wood a few nights ago, and has
been endearingly eccentric enough to secure a life beyond the first
elimination. Current odds - 12
Jenny Frost - Jenny Frost has been a little bit on the quiet side so
far during the series, but is starting to show flashes of what the
British public love: no, not her nipples - although we’re sure they’ll
make an appearance before long - her self-deprecating sense of humour.
This will stand her in good stead. But not as good stead as her nipples
would. Current odds - 4.8
Kimberley Davies - Kimberley, originally lumped in with Jenny Frost
as a camp beauty, is beginning to show a steely, robotic, almost evil
side. Well, when we say ‘evil’ we mean ’she got a bit angry when her
pants accidentally got dyed pink’. But in such a personality-free group,
even the tiniest display of negative emotion gets put down as evil. She
could learn from Jenny’s self-deprecating sense of humour. Or the
nipple thing again. Second-favourite to be the first one eliminated
from the series. Current odds - 4.6
Jilly Goolden - Now here’s a surprise; Jilly Goolden, the jumped-up
irritating wine guzzler off the telly is even more jumped-up and
irritating in real life. We’d have suggested that she should loosen up
a bit to avoid the first elimination, but seeing as she’s already had a
wash in the buff, we’d suggest she buttons the hell back up. Favourite
to go when eliminations start. Current odds - 2.32
Anyone else - Now that Elaine Lordan has left the series, the
likelihood of someone else taking her place has shot up. And we’re
still fairly sure that Cannon And Ball will be showing their faces at
some point. And they might suffer from ‘last in, first out’ syndrome.
Current odds - 11.5
