Holly Hunter, the Oscar-winning star of The Piano and Crash, just had a baby. And then another one. In the business, this is known as ‘having twins’.
Now we know that your head is full of questions right now – questions like "what names has Holly Hunter given the twins?", "How heavy were the twins that Holly Hunter just had?", "What sex were Holly Hunter’s twins?", "Did Holly Hunter give birth to monozygotic twins or dizygotic twins?" and "Is Holly Hunter really 47?" – but the answers to all of those questions are unclear. Except the last one. Holly Hunter really is 47.
The twins are the first babies for Holly Hunter (DVDs) and her partner, potential Chad Lowe in waiting Gordon MacDonald. Hunter’s publicist Nicole Caruso confirmed the birth to People magazine in a ridiculously stern-sounding way:
"She had the babies. They are happy and healthy."
And
that’s all we – and People magazine – know at the moment. Luckily, the
magazine points out, although Holly Hunter has never been a mother
before, she does have some maternal experience, having played the Mum
in The Incredibles. We’re not sure exactly which essential mothering
skills Holly Hunter picked up by reading some lines in a studio for a
cartoon about a woman with stretchy arms, but if it’s good enough for
People, it’s good enough for us.
By giving birth to twins, Holly Hunter joins a select group of
famous twin-parents including Pavarotti, Mel Gibson, Nat King Cole and
William Shakespeare. Yes, we’re fully aware that this isn’t very
important information. Quiet, you.
