Hollywood_1One of the best things about getting old is that you’re allowed to slag off as many young people as you like.

One such old git is Sir Sean Connery (DVDs). And he’s taking the opportunity to be as rude as he possibly can about the industry that made him a star.

Not only has he said it will it take a "Mafia-like" offer to get him to make another film, Sean Connery has also called Hollywood producers a bunch of "idiots". Or, to be more accurate, "Idiotschhhh".

Talking to a New Zealand newspaper, Connery stated "I’m fed up with the idiots… the
ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and the
people who green-light the movies. I don’t say they’re all idiots. I’m just saying there’s a lot of them that are very good at it [being idiots]. It would almost need a Mafia-like offer I couldn’t refuse to do another movie."

In the interview, Connery also revealed that he turned down the role of Gandalf in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy because "I
never understood it. I read the book, I read the script. I saw the
movie. I still don’t understand it… I would be interested in doing
something that I didn’t fully understand, but not for 18 months."

The
future of Sir Sean’s movie career has been unclear for a while now. His
last film - 2003’s The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen - was so bad
that the director Stephen Norrington said afterwards that he would
never direct again.

Connery, probably most famous for playing the role of Zed in the
1974 movie Zardoz, has also recently pulled out of a six-figure autobiography
deal with HarperCollins. Initially, the book was going to be co-written with Meg Henderson. But
when that fell through, Hunter Davies was brought in.

But Connery pulled out after Davies started to pursue claims that the star was a fan of abusing women. Sean said the decision
to withdraw has cost him "a stonking amount of money", but he "realised I was going
to be spending the rest of my life trying to correct these
inaccuracies"
and so he decided he couldn’t be arsed instead.
