hecklerspray’s free DVDs offer for movie fans

Free_dvd_rental_offer We love movies. And so should you. Particularly since we’ve teamed up with online DVD rental firm ScreenSelect to offer you a tremendous free trial.

The nut of it is this: you get 5 free DVDs, by post, from a choice of 37,500 films (yup, that many). And there’s no obligation for you to continue the trial.

It takes minutes to sort this out, so if you’ve yet to experience the delights of online DVD rental then get some (for nowt)…

Renting DVDs online is one of the best uses of the internet we can think of. Really. It is up there with eBay. You create a list of movies that you want to see. From your desk. If you are as lazy as we are, this makes a lot of sense. Especially if you cannot make the London Film Festival this year (this should placate you a little).

There are other reasons too: medical ones.

See, hecklerspray has been known to suffer from nausea during group trips to the local video store. It isn’t that we don’t like movies (we love ‘em). But that whole decision-making process amid swathes of suck-ass Hollywood blockbusters is hardly our idea of fun. The smell of carpets, of other people… it is always a horrific experience. And it never has a schmaltzy ending, despite the Butterkist offers at the front desk.

Thankfully, ScreenSelect has hooked up with hecklerspray to offer you (fine reader) a choice of 5 free DVDs from a list of 37,500. And no more Hollywood, unless you really want it. The ScreenSelect movie library is a joy to behold. We now rent DVDs like there’s no tomorrow.

So here’s our recent rentals list to help inspire you. Read it, and if you know a good thing when you see one you’ll spend TWO MINUTES signing up and a few minutes more choosing your movies, documentaries, music films or crazy manga epics, as you see fit…

1. Dead Man’s Shoes. Paddy Considine (aka World’s Greatest Actor), a gas mask, Northern wit, an axe. The best revenge movie in 35 years. Only Get Carter tops it.

2. Ramones: End Of A Century. The best punk band of all. Worth it just for the shots of Joey skulking around Italy. Looking a shade out of place.

3. Sonic Youth: Corporate Ghost. Another musical treat. Say no more. You know where we stand on Thurston and the gang.

4. The Ring. Not the US remake, buddy. Get the Nakata original. Turn out the lights. Grab a cushion. Move the TV out of the bedroom after you’ve watched it.

5. Night On Earth. A Jim Jarmusch treat. Five cab rides across five cities around the globe. Worth it for the Tom Waits soundtrack and Roberto Benigni explaining how he once got carnal with a sheep (a lovely sheep) to a man of the cloth. A fine movie.

It takes minutes to sign up for this and you’ll start receiving DVDs in a couple of days. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did (you will once you see the selection of films on offer).
