In this terrifyingly lonely post-Dancing On Ice, pre-The Games reality TV wilderness, we find ourselves looking to distant shores for ridiculous phone vote television characters. And we like what we see.
American Idol is just like Pop Idol, only far more depressingly professional. And even Paula Abdul making no sense and Randy Jackson yelping the world "dog" every billionth of a second is starting to get old. Thank heavens, then, for Taylor Hicks And His Vocal Tics.
Taylor Hicks is like no other American Idol contestant you have ever seen. He looks like a substitute geography teacher, sure, but that’s just the start of it - Taylor Hicks is the most oddly-behaved person we think we’ve ever seen. Taylor Hicks took a mouth organ into the American Idol auditions, and kept blowing into it and shrieking when the judges told him he was through. Shrieking is something that Taylor Hicks excels at, you see.

I think the guy has a really good voice, but I’m usually laughing too hard to hear him. He makes the show worth watching. He’s one of a kind.

I love watching this guy. A combination of Joe Cocker and Ray Charles, he sticks out in the competition as someone who loves and lives for his music!

Taylor Hicks is like a breath of fresh air! He is a one of a kind. He doesn’t care what anybody thinks - he gets up there and sings his butt off. He’s got the chops. And he has a blast doing it. GO GET ‘EM TAYLOR!

He’s just so much fun to watch, and he’s got such a different style. Not the usual “pretty boy” look. I feel it’s his grey hair paired with the dark eyebrows that make you stop and take a second look. If america’s smart he’ll be the next american idol.

I’ve watched American Idol for 5 years straight and Taylor is the first one I have EVER cared enough to actually pick up the phone and punch in a vote. This guy is an absolute common-man hit here in the US precisely because he so obviously is not being groomed and coached backstage. I will vote for him every week just so somebody that’s a true original and not a perfect plastic clone gets a shot at the top.

I have never watched American Idol before but Taylor Hicks is so uniquely talented I can’t miss a chance to hear him again. I am hooked and I hope America is as well. WOW

Listening to Taylor makes me smile. I’ve never been much of a fan of Idol, but I am watching this year because of Taylor Hicks. I’d like to point out that this is the third contender in five years of American Idol that was raised in and around Birmingham, Alabama, Ruben Studdard, Bo Bice and now Taylor Hicks. There must be something magic in the water in my hometown.

Im from the Philippines, I am not a typical blogger or an AI fan but once I chanced upon the AI final auditon where I saw Taylor Hicks playing his Harmonica and I went like wow ,this guy is so refreshingly different from just about everyone. And he has the kindest I’ve ever seen and like me he is also a libran. Go Taylor you have a fan in another part of the globe

this guy is amazing. there is such a roundswell of support for him. you just cannot help but love him. i am such a fan of his type of music i could not have asked for more if i had invented him myself. he is really the next big thing and should be around for a long time.

Like others this is the first time I have gotten into Idol and yes Taylor is why! I’m from L.A. (Lower Alabama) but I truly would like to say no matter what happens he is my American Idol! He is so sincere and so humble but you can see him flinch when it comes time for Simon to say something and it breaks my heart to think he is about to say something that would hurt his feelings! 100% talent! Go Taylor!! You got my vote!!!

Taylor - We just love him. This is our first time to have an interest in AI and that’s only because we watched Taylor the first episode and got hooked on him!!! This guy is pure talent. He’s original, funny and captivating. He sings fron his soul and no one can beat that. All the other contestants can go home right now. GO TAYLOR!!!

I’m from Indonesia and just simply adore this lovely guy. Since the first time I saw him singing in Las Vegas Audition and bring a naturally fresh voice and personality…then continue watch his every step moving formward. He’s very very sexy, warm and friendly. Really make AI worth, something that I never notice before. I can’t wait any longer to buy his albums. Go Taylor, you have everything to be success !!!

I have been hooked on Taylor from the first time I saw his audition, my ultimate hero is Joe Cocker and I think I am more mesmerised by Taylor. He not only is unique and a fantastic performer but also strangely cute!! I am from Newcastle England and hope he brings his talent over here so that I can drool more….

I’ve never been as hooked to AI as this before. And just like most of you, Taylor’s the reason why I’m such a fanatic now. the man has caught my interest ever since his Las Vegas audition. maybe because everything about him is different–his clothes (not fashionable or trendy), his voice, his moves (which are very quirky), and of course, who would ever ignore his hair. But overtime ha has proved that he really has talent and he’s worth people’s attention. He’s unique, and sings from his own being. And somehow, I feel blessed that we are given the opportunity to hear a performer such as Taylor. I look forward to watching AI just to hear and see him perform. And I believe that a good heart comes with the great performer package. Win or lose, I know that Taylor has made a stamp on his fans’ hearts.
Btw, I’m also from the Philippines, and this is really my first time to post in a forum.. Well, I had so many firsts because of Taylor.. Ü
