OK, we’re turning over a new leaf.

Each week, the hecklerspray gig guide usually descends into a shouting match. We always start off trying to be nice about each and every touring band that gets featured, but - for some reason - we always end up slagging off most of the bands. Well not any more.

From now on, the hecklerspray gig guide is just going to focus on bands that really get us excited, and we’re going to shower the bands here with nothing but universal, light-hearted praise. So, having said that, this edition of the hecklerspray gig guide contains concerts by Graham Coxon, Luke Haines, Test Icicles, Richard Thompson, Spinto Band and - oh you bastards, there goes our plan - Journey South

Graham Coxon - We haven’t heard the forthcoming Graham Coxon album
yet, but you can bet your sweet ass that it’ll be very very good
indeed. And we hear that the songs from his first four albums sound
beefed-up live too, and not like a tramp mumbling in a dustbin like they do
on record. Click for dates and tickets.

Luke Haines - Luke Haines is the evil genius behind The Auteurs,
Black Box Recorder
and, er, Luke Haines. He’s a funny-looking chap, but
he writes songs that you will forever clutch to your black black hearts
forever. Click for dates and tickets.

Journey South - Oh, Journey South. How did you ever get to the final
of X Factor with your horrible creepy name and your weird bendy-knee
fist pump action and your horrific song choices? And do you expect,
really, that people will pay to see you do this in the flesh? Time will
tell, Journey South. Time will tell. Click for dates and tickets.

Spinto Band - Make no bones about it, Spinto Band are one of the
best bands you will ever hear. Ever. We bloody well love Spinto Band so
much that they make us want to cry happy tears. Gig of the week. Band
of the century. Even though they took the piss a bit by choosing the
centenary of Einstein’s papers on Brownian motion as their favourite
thing of 2005. Click for dates and tickets.

Test Icicles - The NME loves Test Icicles. We think they’re OK too.
But they have a truly awful name. Never let that be overstated. Click for dates and tickets.

Richard Thompson - You think you’re so hip, don’t you? Listening to
your Devendra Banhart records and your Iron & Wine records and all
your other quiet folky indie music. Well, Richard Thompson invented all
of that stuff. Go and see him immediately. Click for dates and tickets.
