Get ready for a classic moment of Krysta being a walking contradiction. Just yesterday I posted about how Taylor Swift was absolutely NOT a bad bitch. Now, here I am, less than 24 hours later, suggesting she’s at least a BIT of a bad bitch. Da fuck, I know.
Today’s “Good shit in pop culture that happened in 2017” Christmas advent is super recent, as in today, because Time Magazine just named the Silence Breakers aka all the men and women who stood up to sexual abuse and started the “Me Too” movement as its Person of the Year. And yes, that includes Taylor.
Time magazine honours not just Taylor, but all the other men and women who spoke out about sexual abuse and assault and started the new wave of “We’re not taking this shit anymore” bad asses.
As Time writes in their story:
These silence breakers have started a revolution of refusal, gathering strength by the day, and in the past two months alone, their collective anger has spurred immediate and shocking results: nearly every day, CEOs have been fired, moguls toppled, icons disgraced. In some cases, criminal charges have been brought.
Taylor, of course, won a lawsuit a radio DJ had filed against her because he lost his job because she said he groped her. It was legitimately the only time I would ever classify T. Swizzle as a bad bitch, so I’ll give her this one.
Aside from Taylor, other notable celebs like Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan, Terry Crews, and Ashley Judd were honored for speaking out against handsy old powerful pervs.
I know that 2017 might seem like it had A LOT of lows, but just remember, this year began with the EPIC Women’s March on Washington and is ending with the Silencer Breakers being named Tim magazine’s Person of the Year. That’s pretty fucking amazing and a real step in the right direction for humanity.
And no, I definitely won’t be reading the comments on this one.
