Hate Tom Cruise? Boycott War Of The Worlds

Digg this!

Protest It had to happen. People were only going to take so much. There’s overexposure and then there’s over-over-overexposure – a crime that few have recently been more guilty of than Mr. Tom Cruise (DVDs).

His antics have to be – without doubt – the biggest and most ludicrous marketing push ever embarked on by a human being (and that includes balloon-riding beardy-man Richard Branson).

Cynical photo-op ‘relationship’ with not-too-bright dolly bird? Check. Grating talk show appearances at every available opportunity? Check. A million media outlets following his every move? Ahem… check.

Group of disgruntled web-people launching a petition to boycott War Of The Worlds? Check.

Cruise’s constant grinning presence has led to some enterprising chap creating an open letter to Steven Spielberg (DVDs). Reprinted below are some excerpts of the scathing missive:

Dear Mr. Spielberg,

We, the undersigned, wish to inform you that we are compelled to boycott your movie “War of the Worlds”. Our decision is based solely on the abhorrent behavior of Mr. Tom Cruise. We will not be spending our good money to support the ridiculous and potentially dangerous antics of this raving narcissist.

-We do not want to be enlightened about Mr. Cruise’s ‘religion’ of Scientology. If he is so concerned about mind control, he should not be part of an organization that seems to use this tactic as its Modus Operandi. Mr. Spielberg, was the fully staffed Scientology tent you allowed Mr. Cruise to have on the movie set placed right next to the Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, and Muslim tents? Didn’t think so.

-We are sick of being force-fed his relationship with Katie Holmes which, if it isn’t the publicity hoax it appears to be, is a pathetic, juvenile, attention mongering display.

-We do not want to watch his ‘out of control’ yet suspiciously manipulative antics nor listen to his condescending, holier-than-thou judgments. This man cannot even articulate a coherent sentence. He should stick to reading movie scripts.

Perhaps he views the aliens he battles in War of the worlds as a metaphor for the aliens he and his Scientology friends believe inhabit we humans. Relax Tom, it’s just a movie. A movie we will not be paying to see.

The campaign is gathering pace, having attracted thousands of signatures from every corner of the Cruise-weary globe. Comments range from disgusted ("Deplorable behavior…since when did Tom Cruise become the medical know-it-all?") to analytical ("Mr. Cruise appears to be on the manic side of a bi-polar episode. I am a psycotherapist and can attest to the value of my field") to downright bizarre ("I used to love Tom but now I just feel sorry for him. I will never let my children spend time with his "wife" who looks like shes dead").

hecklerspray honestly can’t see what all the fuss is about. No matter how baffling or annoying the Tomster’s behaviour may have proved to some people, do you honestly think that’s going to stop us rushing out to see a bunch of alien robots destroying the Earth this Friday night?

Not a chance in hell…

TOM CRUISE CAN TAKE HIS RIGHTEOUS SCIENTOLOGY AND SHOVE IT

HE IS A CREEP AND SO IS HIS ‘FIANCE’

  • Anonymous says:

I agree with Proteon. The story was blogging shit.

  • fernuswitty says:

Tom sure has everyone talking….doesn’t he.

Like he really cares about what is said about him, he’s laughing all the way to the bank…..

and Proteon, it’s Congratulations, with a t, funny you spelt the “F” word correctly !

  • Adam Pec says:

Tom’s ego is little bit bigger then his money, I believe. So he wont be laughing all the the way to the bank.

  • Eeksharks says:

Nope, you’re wrong. I will not be seeing War of the Worlds at the theatre or on DVD and the reason is its leading actor. If it were not Tom Cruise in the leading role, going to see it and buying it later on DVD would be an automatic.

It’s not that I object to Mr. Cruise’s views or his right to express them. I am a liberal.

Nonetheless, Tom Cruise’s real-life role as a rude, immature, narcissistic, self-absorbed jackass, is so overwhelming that I never could set that aside far enough to identify with him in any film role.

Nothing hypocritcal all at Proteon, most of it comes from another site if you follow the links?

  • tromba1 says:

What the hell gives you people the right to judge. Just a bit jealous? “Rude, immature, narcissistic, self-absorbed jackass”? Just how rude, immature, narcissistic, and self-absorbed are you to deify yourself and make these decisions? Get a life.

    Same to you.

  • Dian says:

Any religion without Jesus Christ is not right… end of story.

How sad it is to see this talented bright man go down the wrong path in life… Never expected him to have such wacky beliefs. I pray he will discover the truth.

  • Crystal says:

Whatever, I read the book and seen the movie, can any of you people typing this ridiculous language even read???? The book wins hands down…………….the message could be the same without your disrespectful language. The movie came out WEDNESDAY. Maybe you need to join Tom’s cult, sounds like just the thing for you, sounds as if your had a ticket there already………….I hope not………….

  • CBDancer says:

How can anyone support a person that in the last few weeks has succeeded in separating, dividing, polarizing in a time that we are already separated, divided and polarized. We haven’t fixed the problems that existed before. We don’t need someone adding to the mix. Blanket statements are never acceptable. I WILL NOT SUPPORT HIS BANK ACCOUNT OR HIS EGO. I’ll wait for Mr. Spielberg’s Talisman – if it doesn’t star a man that is set on spewing hate and contempt for those who do not agree with his views, religious or not.

  • southpark says:

The recent South Park episode about Tom Cruise and Scientology should put to rest any debate about this moron.

  • Anal Moisture says:

Like most injustices in the entertainment world, it’s the women who are responsible for padding the wallets and egos of fucking gits like Tom Cruise, boy bands and every other talentless fuckerknot dreamboat. Women should pay an additional surcharge on top of the tickets for the existence of these miscreants.
