Hank Williams Jr Harassed Me, Says Waitress

No matter where you turn these days, you’re likely to run into a cowboy. If they’re not getting married to Hollywood stars, they’re splitting up with Hollywood stars. Or they’re apparently harassing waitresses.

That last one is the claim that Hank Williams Jr is facing, at least. A waitress in a Memphis hotel bar is claiming that Hank repeatedly swore at her and then got her in a chokehold and tried to kiss her. If this allegation is true, someone should tell Hank Williams Jr that a 10% tip is usually considered to be slightly more polite than out-and-out harassment. And, yes, we’re speaking with the harsh light of experience behind us.

Hank Williams Jr (CDs) - for those of you who don’t drive a lorry and talk
into CB radios for a living - is a country and western singer most
famous for providing the theme-tune to a football programme. Which kind
of makes Hank Williams Jr like the American Lightning Seeds. You can
decide whether that’s a good or a bad thing for yourself.

Personally, though, Hank Williams Jr is having something of a bad
week. Hank’s two daughters Holly and Hilary were involved in a car
crash last Thursday, and are being treated in the Memphis Regional
Medical Centre. That’s bad enough in itself, but then reports started
coming through that Hank Williams Jr had specified that only white
nurses were to look after his daughters - reports that Hank Williams Jr
has been quick to deny.

And now Holly Hornbeak, a 19-year-old hotel waitress, is claiming
that Hank Williams Jr harassed and physically assaulted her on Saturday
night. According to reports, Williams swore at Hornbeak, then tried to
choke and kiss her in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel where Hank
Williams Jr is staying. Despite this, Kirk Webster, the publicist of
Hank Williams Jr, says that the police have yet to contact Hank, who
remains a guest in the Peabody Hotel, adding:

"I am shocked at
such allegations. Hank Jr has had to defend himself once already in
Memphis last Friday from erroneous allegations, and now this. Hank and
his family is still staying at the hotel, if any issues were
problematic one would think that the hotel would ask him to check out
or leave the premises. Neither has happened."

We can only see two sure-fire ways for Hank Williams Jr to get people to stop talking about his alleged indiscretions: either quickly writing and releasing a song about gay cowboys, on embarking on an ill-conceived shotgun relationship with an Oscar-winning actress. Because cowboys should stick to what they’re good at.
