Gwendoline Christie is proof that Amazons once roamed the groomed lawns of England. Maybe there WAS a secret society of female warriors on some island no-one has ever visited, much like the Wonder Womsn movie. Plausible? Yeah.
Standing at 6’3″, Gwendoline Christie probably knew she was going to be typecast as a villain or warrior when she started acting. Lucky for us she’s been cast as both. The English lady has been a series regular on Game of Thrones playing warrior Brienne of Tarth and in the Star Wars saga as the demanding Captain Phasma. Gwendoline has also trampled through the Theatre district in London playing parts in: Cymbeline, Dr.Faustus, and Mirandolina.
Surprisingly, Christie is very comfortable with her body and has posed nude for photographer Polly Borland in a exhibition called ‘Bunny’. Here’s why she did it:
“I thought I only wanted to take my clothes off if I had an amazing body and I didn’t,” she admitted to Elle magazine. “But there was another part of me – intellectual or intuitive – that said, ‘This is exactly why you should do it. We can examine female beauty in a different way, and this is me, warts and all.’”
Game of Thrones
We were hoping she would show more skin in Game of Thrones but sadly, this is all we have for now… unless some crazy scenario is written in where someone tries to rape her (again) or she falls in love and haves sex with someone. Preferably Jaime Lannister.
