Poor the Guy Ritchie. He’s not having the best time of it of late.
First he flabbergasted everyone by somehow making a film even less coherent than Swept Away. Then he compounded the public’s dislike for him by refusing to sign autographs at the Revolver premiere.
And now he’s gone and forgotten who Madonna is.
Guy Ritchie (DVDs) came over all Nana Moon on French talk show Monde En Parle (Everybody’s Talking) when, trying to promote Revolver, he told everyone that Madonna
wore a wedding dress made by French designer Hutchins, when in reality
it was a Stella McCartney dress.
Sensing that he was interviewing a dimwit, host Thierry Ardisson
took the opportunity to ask Ritchie what Madonna’s real name was.
"Er…er..," burbled the hapless director, before another guest
whispered "Louise Ciccone" to him. "Yes. Louise Ciccone," Guy conceded,
before admonishing Ardisson by saying "You’re going to get me in a
whole lot of trouble."
All of which sounds like a lot of fun. If only the same thing could
be said about Revolver. As for Madonna, we’ll get to see if anybody
remembers her name when her new album Confessions On A Dancefloor is
released in November, or if her new nickname ‘Oldfrapp’ sticks instead.
