Yesterday it was thought that George Michael's wedding and entire relationship with Kenny Goss was on the rocks after he was caught doing the gay sex with a van driver in a bush in London. George Michael has other ideas, though.
In fact, not only does George Michael claim that everything continues to go swimmingly with boyfriend Kenny Goss – and that a wedding will happen over the next few months – but George also says that cruising for gay men in Hampstead Heath is really bloody brilliant and more people should do it, especially if they end up in a bush with dishy bastards like the potbellied unemployed van driver that George Michael did.
According to George Michael, George Michael is a role model for thousands and thousands of young gay men around the world. That's a bit debatable, since we've never met a young gay man who'll admit to liking Jesus To A Child by George Michael (it's one of our opening questions, OK?) and the only people who actually seem to like George Michael are the hordes of housewives who still cry at Careless Whisper and don't believe that George Michael could have really waggled his cock at a policeman like that.
But let's take George Michael at his word. Thanks to his sterling work at pretending not to be gay for 15 years and then sheepishly coming out only when he was arrested, George Michael has inspired a whole new generation of gay men to fall asleep in their cars with drugs in their pockets and then smash into a bunch of other cars while trying to drive away. And it's this role model position that worked George Michael into such a tizzy after he was caught by a photographer doing nasty things to a van driver in a bush on Hampstead Heath.
You'll remember yesterday's news that George Michael's boyfriend Kenny Goss wanted to cancel their wedding after the cruising incident, but now it seems that isn't true, and the wedding will happen before September. George Michael chose to defend himself, his relationship with Goss and his job as a gay spokesman last night by calling Richard & Judy and saying:
"I've got no issue with cruising. I've talked about it many times. So they have to make me look like the gay Wayne Rooney, don't they? You can't be in shame about the situation if the person isn't shamed. And I'm certainly not that. I should be able to be what I am to young gay people – which is a man who has managed to succeed in the industry for 25 years. Sorry if people don't like the fact I cruise on Hampstead Heath but the police absolutely accept that it goes on at night. It's the only place in London where that is the case so it's generally a safe place."
Of course, now that George Michael has proudly defiantly stood up for his rights as a gay man, this should be the last word on the matter. OK, the second-last word – our George Michael Haiku competition is still open for a few more days. Knock 'em dead, kids.

…I have a couple of gay men friends and they like George’s music. As for the housewives comment… Well they are aware of the fact he is gay… George being gay isn’t going to stop the more open minded, tolerant, fans from loving him. What George does is his business.
