Friends Of The ‘Spray: Best TV Show Of 2005
Then buzz it up

Take our tiny survey to help improve hecklerspray in 2006!
Earlier in the day, the hecklerspray writers listed their best TV shows of 2005, shows as lofty and highbrow as Peep Show, Lost and Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow.
But what of the people hecklerspray has interviewed throughout the year - people like The Like, Ladyfuzz, Jennifer Gentle, Devin Davis, Mother And The Addicts,Oppenheimer and Doveman - what do they think about the state of television in 2005? Read on…
Z Berg, The Like
The OC. I’m sorry, but it fucking rules. I’m a sucker for good melodrama. I like Fassbinder and I like The OC.
Liz, Ladyfuzz
Can’t say… thoroughly despise TV… so do not watch it or have one.
Jennifer Gentle:
Alessio: Desperate Housewives… best TV show since Twin Peaks!
Marco: Sorry, I don’t watch a lot of television.
Marco, Sillyboy Entertainment:
Because of our beloved baby, we watched a lot
of TV: House, CSI, that kind of stuff - I think that most of these
shows are well done, still I miss something a bit weirder, something
like The Prisoner for example.
Devin Davis
Lost, hands down. I got hooked on this show a few
episodes in (I watched the pilot and then missed a few shows, but then
saw the pilot again in re-run and haven’t missed an episode since.)
It’s been brilliant thus far, non-linear narrative, seeing the same
thing happen from the viewpoint of 2 or 3 different characters’ eyes…
plus, the courage to let ‘monsters’ exist in a shroud of mystery (ie:
letting sound be the identifying factor, not showing people any
questionable CGI special effects that could conceivably erode the
element of realism or plausibility) but instead letting the ‘fear’ be
related through creepy noises just out of reach of the camera. Great
ensemble cast. Hope they can continue to keep us guessing, rather than
give things too much shape. My Wednesday nights are booked.
Sam Smith, Mother And The Addicts
Life In The Undergrowth -
BBC . I don’t like to concern myself with people of dubious moral fibre
who eat insects, swap wives and unsuccessfully convert clapped out
properties for fun and profit. However, the mighty Attenborough
thankfully lumbers on. He’s the only man who can shake me out my
ongoing bout of slow creeping atheism. Not one of his programmes go by
without making me seriously consider that there might actually be a
God. Coast was interesting, too.
Oppenheimer
Shaun: Scrubs - great humour. Visual, slapstick, heartwarming humour - the editing is so good.
Rocky: Family Guy.
Thomas Bartlett, Doveman
My TV broke at 9:25pm on June 23rd. I
know so precisely because it was five minutes before the tip off of
Game 7 of the NBA Finals, comically bad timing. I haven’t gotten it
fixed yet. I can tell you all about 2004 TV shows, though, because, up
to the minute as always, I’ve been watching them on DVD. The hits:
Arrested Development, the OC, Deadwood.
Tomorrow, we take a look at the Best Thing Of 2005. But for now, leave your best TV show comments below.
