Eyetoy_kineticThe closest thing we’ve ever got to exercise from a videogame was a spot of repetitive strain injury.

That partly changed with the launch of the EyeToy for the PS2 - basically a webcam that films you so you can actually watch yourself taking part in games. However, up until now the EyeToy games have been fun but slight. Nobody wants to spend three hours wiping computer bubbles off a screen, do they?

But now, a new EyeToy add-on is being released, and it actually looks like a useful one. Called EyeToy Kinetic, the game is basically a personal trainer on a PlayStation disc. You can create your own bespoke training programme, made with the help of experts at Nike Motionworks.

Because it’s on the EyeToy, you can interact will all kinds of floating objects and stuff. From what we’ve seen of it, it looks rather spiffy - the closest we’ll ever get to full-on Jedi training.

The game isn’t released until the end of the month, but before then, you can take a look at the EyeToy Kinetic website, and even subscribe to personalised training programmes.

We’re not sure how great the game will be - we quite like having a belly big enough to balance a pizza box on, actually - but we’re willing to be proved wrong.
