Everybody Is Wrong: Religion
Then buzz it up

Everybody Is Wrong is a weekly feature in which hecklerspray takes a look at something widely regarded by the masses as being brilliant… and then slaps it about a bit while shouting ‘wrong, wrong, wrong’ in a big stern voice. Targets have ranged from Star Wars to Arctic Monkeys to Peter Kay.
This week, we’ve decided to get all topical. And a teensy-weensy bit more wide-reaching…
hecklerspray is sure you’ll have noticed the big uproar in Europe over
cartoons insulting a prominent religious icon - something which seems to make
about as much sense as getting all upset over unflattering images of
Santa Claus.
So… let’s take a quick look at the whole ‘religion’ issue, shall we?
Any atheists (i.e ‘grown-ups’) who treated themselves to Richard Dawkins’ magnificent Channel Four series The Root Of All Evil will hopefully be nodding their heads in agreement right now. Dawkins launched on a wonderful, well-thought-out and (important bit, this) rational polemic as to why religion (Books) in general was just a great big load of nonsense.
Imagine, Dawkins attested, that someone told you there was a teapot orbiting the sun. You can’t see that teapot - and there’s certainly no physical evidence that it’s there - but if you try to deny its existence you’ll be sneered at and accused of having "no faith." Would we accept that kind of reasoning? Course not.
Surely it’s time the world came together and realised something. Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism … deep down, they’re really all the same.
That’s right. They’re all bullshit.
Woman-hating, gay-bashing, kiddie-fiddling, abusive, backwards-thinking, racist, ill-informed, pre-medieval drivel that has about as much relevance to the modern world as witch-burning or using leeches in medical procedures.
And - to anyone thinking of going standing outside an embassy and yelling threats because of a trivial little cartoon - here’s an idea: grow up. And while you’re at it, get a Science GSCE too. You never know what you might learn.
Oh - and if we’re ‘going to hell”? Balls to it.
It’s warmer than England this time of year …

Damn right, but I assume you’re now going to have a fist fight with colleague Mof Gimmers who previously slagged off the razor sharp Prof Dawkins in a ill-thought out Hecklerspray article designed to appease the god-botherers, most probably the scary violent ones.
