Before Sofia Vergara came and stole the hearts of our nation, there was gorgeous, petite Eva Longoria.
As one of the stars of “Desperate Housewives” and the (now former) wife of an NBA player, she was poised to shake up the film and television industry with her good looks, star power, and moderate talent.
However, Eva’s career didn’t rocket all the way to the top and she has since been relegated to the periphery of our collective consciousness. One has to ask, is this because of how Eva Longoria looks without makeup on?
Sure, we could blame it on her less-than-stellar film choices (“Over Her Dead Body” may have seemed like a hilarious kitschy comedy about a dead fiancee, though no one was laughing when they saw the box office returns), but really the photos do not lie: she looks god-awful.
It is truly shocking to see how different Eva looks from her professionally crafted image when she is not wearing makeup. It begs the questions whether she is wearing an inordinate amount of makeup or if she is being airbrushed to death. It is also unclear, based on the different lighting scenarios, if she is also being whitewashed to death (a.k.a. lightening her skin tone to make her more appealing to a mass audience).
So, does she slather on the foundation with a trowel or use her fingertips like the average woman? When you compare her made up image to the photos of her natural appearance, one has to ask such questions. This one is really a head-scratcher.
In all honesty, it would seem that the discrepancy in her made up vs. dressed down appearance is the amount of airbrushing they’ve done in her professional photos and her naturally splotchy, uneven skin. If she was blessed with nicer skin and they didn’t airbrush her within an inch of her life, perhaps our expectations wouldn’t be so high; this being the case, we would not choke on our morning bagels upon seeing photos of Eva Longoria without any makeup on.
