Eva Green Is The New Bond Girl, Finally

It’s taken over a year to fill all the slots but - finally - Casino Royale is fully cast. We know that Daniel Craig is James Bond, and Mads Mikkelsen is the villain, but who will get to play the Bond girl?

The answer is Eva Green. That’s right - Eva Green will play Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. It’s thought that Eva’s magnetic onscreen charisma won her the Bond girl role. Well, either that or she got the job because every single actress in the world turned it down first. One or the other.

Casino Royale started filming at the beginning of the month,
unusually without a full cast. Daniel Craig (DVDs) had been cast as James Bond
- in a protracted decision-making process which only really succeeded
in pissing Pierce Brosnan off a bit - but there was no Bond villain and
no Bond girl attached to the movie.

Mads Mikkelsen, a Danish actor, was yesterday announced as the man
to play villain Le Chiffre in Casino Royale - but who cares about the
Bond villain? He’s not going to come out the sea in a bikini and have
sex with James Bond in the final scene, is he? No - the world was much
more interested in finding out who the new Bond girl was going to be.
And now we know - it’s Eva Green. But wait a minute: who the hell is
Eva Green?

Well, she’s French for a start, and she’s been in a handful of films
starting with The Dreamers, a 2003 film about some French kids who make
friends with an American in the 1968 riots; and was most recently seen
in Kingdom Of Heaven. Well, we say ’seen’, but as far as we’re aware
only about six people worldwide went to see the thing in the first
place.

But, hey, now all the actors are in place for Casino Royale, all
that’s left is for the producers to find a suitable location to shoot
the film’s big climax - where a giant space laser melts the evil ice
palace freeing all of the unicorns.
