Eurovision Odds – Switzerland and Turkey
It’s the penultimate day of the hecklerspray and Betfair.com Eurovision Song Contest special betting rundown.
Tomorrow night, the contestants will be trying their best to match up to all the past Eurovision winners, such as Johnny Logan, Dana, Johnny Logan, Dana International and Bobbysocks, the 1985 Norwegian winner.
Today, we’ll be looking at Switzerland and Turkey…
Switzerland (pop. 7,993,100, a landlocked federal state in Europe)
Switzerland are betting on Eurovision glory with the best-named group of the competition – Estonian girlband Vanilla Ninja. The last time Switzerland picked a foreign performer, it was Celine Dion, and she won. Their song is Cool Vibes, an uptempo plea for death. "Cool vibes – why don’t you kill me?" Don’t kill Vanilla Ninja, they’re brilliant. Current odds - 27/2
Turkey (pop. 68,109,469; a country located in southwest Asia)
The Eurovision representative for Turkey is Gulseren, a French/Turkish woman who would choose the darbuka as her favourite musical instrument. Her song in entitled Rimi Rimi Ley, a song that tries to stop arguments between lighthouse keepers when one hogs the torch too much "I believe everybody has a chance to shine" sings Gulseren, ever the diplomat. Current odds – 99/1
