hecklerspray and Betfair.com continue to bring you the lowdown on the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest Denmarkentrants. For the latest Eurovision odds click here. Otherwise, read on…

While the contest is usually a time for celebration, it also has a dark side. Never forget that Eurovision used Riverdance as an interlude one year, and is therefore directly responsible for Michael Flatley. And all the suffering he’s caused us. But betting on Eurovision made the pain go away, and now we must look at the odds for two more countries… Denmark and Estonia.

Today we’re looking at two countries – Denmark and Estonia which, when combined, are a disturbing anagram of  ‘A naked torn semi’. When we’ve uncrossed our legs, we’ll continue…

Denmark (pop. 5,411,405; geographically the smallest Nordic country)
Selected as Denmark’s entry this year is Jakob Sveistrup, who, when not singing, teaches autistic kids. Aaah. His song is called Talking to You, and sounds a lot like it’s about stalking. "I’ve got to make you mine", he sings, "I wonder how it feels to be with you". And he works with children. Unbelievable. Current odds – 89/1

Estonia (pop. 1,408,566; a country in northern Europe)
Hoping to sing their way to the top for Estonia are Suntribe and Sven Lohmus. Strangely, on stage will be the five funny-looking Suntribe girls and five record players. God knows why. Their song is called Let’s Get Loud, a rousing tune battling against boring things. "We’re not angels in the sky playing harp". OK, thanks for clearing that one up. Current odds – 49/1

There’ll be more Eurovision gubbins tomorrow, but remember that you can see the whole list change in real-time in the ‘Special Bets’ section of Betfair.com, and you can also place a cheeky bet on your favourite country.

Guys – the first betting action on Eurovision is taking place tonight, as there are some semi finals on (BBC3 or 4 I think for UK viewers).

Betfair has put up a market on this, so it will make for a good run-through before the main event on Saturday.

Are you familiar with how to hedge bets on Betfair? Have you signed up yet for Saturday night’s event, when a million pounds of bets are going to be placed on Betfair.

The odds change all the time, so the more right you are, the easier it is to make money. And you don’t have to get the result exactly right if you LAY a bet once the odds drop in your favour.

    Best of luck.

Hello, I saw something that I thought was quite relevant to this page and I thought it would not hurt to post it here… There is a documentary coming out about Estonia’s Singing Revolution: http://singingrevolution.com. This film is quite inspirational.
