Eurovision betting odds time again. Don’t pretend you’re not excited - you’re fooling nobody.

And, as Eurovision approaches, the knock-on effect of being part of the contest itself is already being felt across Europe. The Swedish song is number one in Sweden, the Finnish act’s album reached number one, Belgium’s song got to number one and Andy Abraham from the UK got to… oh. Never mind. Still a month to go, eh?

You can always count on Georgia to enter a song with a hopelessly complicated high-concept piece of accompanying performance art. Last year, of course, there was the woman with the giant dress that thrashed around and this year we’ve got Peace Will Come by Diana Gurtskaya, a woman who appears to be blind ballerina who’s stumbled out of The Matrix. Diana is actually blind - so we won’t make any jokes about that - but blindness can’t be blamed for her decision to sing Peace Will Come. It’s such a gigantically overblown ‘look what’s wrong with the world’ song that you can’t ever be completely sure if it’s a cleverly-designed parody or not. The lyrics seem to suggest that it is - “Sometimes words kill faster than bullets do/ And the face of war is never true/ Kids with guns are always too young to die/ Are you still so deaf to ask me why…why” - and it makes us too depressed to imagine that it’s sincere, so we’ll just assume that it’s a pisstake.
