Eurovision 2009: Susanne Georgi, Andorra

Eurovision, Eurovision 2009, Andorra, Susanne Georgi, La Teva DecisioTime for another Eurovision 2009 profile, we feel. Settle in, chaps, we’re doing this for two full months.

This year, of course, the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Moscow, because last year’s Eurovision Song Contest was won by Dima Bilan‘s Russian song Believe. That song, by the way, is now the third most famous Russian song of all time, after that music from the vodka advert and Free Will Must Be Smashed (Boogietime) by Josef Stalin And The Humpettes.

Anyway, today’s Eurovision 2009 song is by Susanne Georgi of Andorra

Andorra are really shooting for the moon at this year’s Eurovision – they’ve absolutely picked the cream of the crop to represent them. And by ‘cream of the crop’ we obviously mean ‘the woman who came sixth in the Andorran national Eurovision selection process in 2007’. Having said that, though, Susanne Georgi’s Eurovision entry this year, La Teva Decisió, is actually sort of decent in a ‘wouldn’t immediately turn it off if it came on the radio and was performed in a language we could understand’ kind of way. Our only qualm with La Teva Decisió, in fact, is that the English title is Get A Life, which is a hopelessly early-1990s thing to call a song in 2009. We can’t imagine what the other songs in the selection process were – Cowabunga and Do The Bartman, we’d guess. Silly Andorrans. We hear they still think Global Hypercolour T-shirts are cool.
