What do you get if Alexander Skarsgard, Prince Harry and Dominic West cross the Antarctic? Sexually frustrated, that’s what.?
Cue the ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ montage, because Harry, Alexander and ‘300’ star Dominic are all training for a 208-mile race to the South Pole in order to raise money for wounded war veterans. Meanwhile, thousands of women are limbering up to race to their South Poles, if you know what I mean. Although that race is likely to be to the death.
The three are to set off in around three weeks in sub-zero temperatures in order to raise money and awareness for Walking With The Wounded, a genuinely awesome UK-based charity that helps wounded soldiers get back on their feet both literally and figuratively.
Sadly, all three will be leading separate teams in order to compete with each other, so our hopes of seeing them strip naked and huddle together to share body heat seemed to be well and truly dashed. Boo, you whores. Most women and quite a few men would donate their own limbs to charity if it meant they could have five minutes alone with that grainy footage.
Harry and Dominic have both been training separately in Iceland for a year, ?just getting their bodies used to being anything other than smoking hot. Blue skin clashes horribly with orange hair, after all.
Viking Eric Alex is obviously used to freezing his Swedish meatballs off, so he’s been backpacking through the Santa Monica mountains to prepare for the trek and get to know his team, which is entirely made up of American soldiers. Dominic is leading Team Commonwealth and obviously Harry gets the Brits.
All the teams apart from their famous leaders are service men and women that have been physically or mentally injured in the line of duty, some of whom are double amputees and even one guy who’s 100% blind. I on the other hand, have been stuck watching Hollyoaks for the past twenty minutes because I can’t be bothered to reach one arm out from underneath the blanket to grab the remote.
Here’s hoping they all make it to the South Pole in one piece – not that that’s stopped any of their teammates.
