Some clever people have realised that there's a gap in the market for people who thought the Scary Movie series was too scary, so they created Epic Movie – a spoof of literally every film that couldn't be shoehorned into any of the four Scary Movie films.
And the tactic seems to have worked as well – Epic Movie is now the top movie at the US weekend box office. It's heartening to know that in the week where Babel and The Queen received blanket coverage for winning so many Oscar nominations, Epic Movie – a film that gets a cheap laugh out of Borat's success by dressing a man who looks a bit like Borat up as Borat and making him say "nice" in a spoofy Borat voice even though the act of trying to spoof a self-aware comedy film is ultimately pointless – took more than three times the combined total of those two films at the US weekend box office. Not heartening. We meant rubbish.
Epic Movie is number one in the US weekend box office. The latest offshoot of the Scary Movie/ Date Movie franchise, Epic Movie goes about spoofing a bunch of blockbuster films like Narnia and Superman with all the wit and verve that the movie with the 392nd-best opening weekend ever can muster. Is Epic Movie funny? Well, Rottentomatoes seems to have given it a rating of 0%, which would suggest that it probably isn't. We've only got the Epic Movie trailer to go on, but since it clearly thinks that a man dressed up as Johnny Depp in Pirates Of The Caribbean do the exact same thing that Johnny Depp did in Pirates Of The Caribbean is one of the funniest things in the film, we can't see ourselves camping out for the next screening any time soon. Here's the US weekend box office top five…
1 – Epic Movie (Guess how Epic Movie spoofs Narnia. Guess. That's right – someone opens a wardrobe… and it's full of stuff! Genius) $19,200,000
2 – Smokin' Aces (You have to hand it to the makers of Smokin' Aces – it takes a talented team to make a film starring Ben Affleck and Alicia Keys even less than the sum of its parts) $14,262,000
3 – Night At The Museum (Now that Ben Stiller has shown that a rude comedy actor can cross over and become a major family movie star, we're certain that there's bound to be a raft of copyists coming along soon. We for one can't wait to see Larry The Cable Guy in Night At The Municipal Carpark) $9,450,000
4 – Catch And Release (A godawful-looking Jennifer Garner film. This means, of course, that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are Hollywood's power couple this week. We're just going to go and throw up a bit, back in a minute) $8,000,000
5 – Stomp The Yard (Stomp The Yard has now made $50 million, a fact that has convinced us to quit this blogging lark and start making films about angry boys dancing in school canteens full-time from now on) $7,800,000

I only wish that it was a bit longer than it was and they showed that part where the fat pirate snacks his but and captain Jack Swallows screams…that would make it a really good movie…it showed that in the comercials…so why not in the movie to right. Well cant wait for it to come out.
