2005 Emmy Awards are due to take place on September 18th. Who’ll win? Who’ll lose? Who’ll cry? Who’ll clap bitterly when it’s announced that they’ve lost? Who’ll do the worst job of trying to look sincere?

We’ll find out on Sunday. But until then, we’ll continue our rundown of the betting odds in each of the six biggest categories. Today we’re looking at the two shows that are favourite to win the Best Drama Series award.

So here they are, brought to you by hecklerspray and Betfair.com

Deadwood – If Deadwood was pitched simply as "Lovejoy dressed up as
a cowboy swearing at everyone"
we’d love it. But it’s so more than that.
It’s funny, brutal and shocking, like the wild west Sopranos. Plus it
featured the quote "Get a fucking haircut, you look like your mother
fucked a monkey."
Most years, Deadwood would walk this award, but this
year it’s up against a monster. Current odds – 23/8

Lost – There’s not a lot more to say about Lost. Well, there is. We
could tell you which character dies in the next few weeks. But we
won’t. Lost has taken over the world since it was first broadcast in
America last year, and has inspired manic devotion in legions of fans
trying to work out what’s going on. The next season will almost
certainly be a let down, but we’re sure this will be the year of Lost.
Current odds – 5/7

And in case you missed yesterday’s instalment, the odds for the other nominees in this category are as follows:

The West Wing – 35/4

Six Feet Under – 31/4

24 – 23/4

Tomorrow we’ll start to recap the latest odds in all the categories. But in the meantime, head over to the General Special Bets section of Betfair.com to see how the odds for this and all the other Emmy categories are shaping up. You even get free stuff when you join, look…
