2005 Emmy Awards are due to take place on September 18th.
Everyone you’ve seen on TV in the last year, all squeezed into one small room. Sounds like hell – unless you’ve got a few bets riding on the nominees, of course.

Today we’re going to continue our look at the betting odds of the Best Drama Actor category – and a weirder set of nominees you’d be hard pushed to find. We’ve already featured Moe from The Simpsons and that bloke from Young Guns 2Kiefer something? And it’ll get even weirder today.

Here are the latest betting odds for the 2005 Best Drama Actor Emmy category, from hecklerspray and Betfair.com

James Spader – James plays Alan Shore in Boston Legal. That’s right
- James Ballard from Crash is up for a dramatic Emmy. James Spader is
best known for being the slimy guy in Crash, being the slimy guy in
Secretary and being the slimy guy in Wolf. In Boston Legal, he plays -
guess what? – a slimy (but brilliant) lawyer. The show is apparently
"hilarious", but we haven’t seen it. Good odds, though. Current odds – 19/9

Ian McShane – Ian plays Al Swearengen in Deadwood. That’s right  -
Lovejoy is up for a dramatic Emmy. How weird is that? For 20 years,
he’s known as a roguish antiques dealer, then he buggers off to
America, dresses up as a cowboy, says a bunch of bad words and suddenly
he’s a megastar. To be fair, he’s perfect as the corrupt owner of the
wild west town, and he’s already joint favourite to with this award.
Current odds – 2/1

Hugh Laurie – Hugh plays Dr Gregory House in House. That’s right -
the skinny bloke who isn’t Stephen Fry is up for a dramatic Emmy. And
we had him down as the cut-price Hugh Grant, too. But then he buggers
off to America, puts on an accent and hobbles around and suddenly he’s
a megastar. In House, Laurie plays a rude doctor. And he plays it very
well, too. That’s why he’s joint favourite to take the trophy. Current
odds – 2/1

And in case you missed yesterday’s instalment, the odds for the other nominees in this category are as follows:

Hank Azaria: 12/1

Kiefer Sutherland: 9/2

Tomorrow we’ll look at the dramatic laydeez. But in the meantime, head over to the General Special Bets section of Betfair.com to see how the odds for this and all the other Emmy categories are shaping up. You even get free stuff when you join, look…
