The 2005 Emmy Awards are due to take place on September 18th. Think of it, all those people you watch on TV fighting for awards and then smiling bitterly when they lose. What’s better than that?

Well, making a whole heap of money from betting on the awards is better, obviously. And that’s what we’re here for.

Today we’ll be starting to look at the Best Comedy Actress nominees. Usually, comedy isn’t really a female-orientated field. But this year, Desperate Housewives has changed that. So what if it’s not really a comedy, or even a slightly amusing drama - it hasn’t stopped pretty much everyone involved in the show being nominated for this award.

Let’s take a look at part one of the 2005 Emmy Awards Best Comedy Actress nominees, with hecklerspray and Betfair.com…

Patricia Heaton - Patricia plays Debra in Everybody Loves Raymond.
Everybody Loves Raymond seemed like a surprisingly misogynist sitcom -
all of the pain and conflict always came from either the hateful mother
or the hateful wife, as if it was being written by a group of bitter
middle-aged husbands. We can’t stand Debra (the hateful wife) so much that we don’t watch
Raymond that much. That means that Patricia Heaton is either a
brilliant actress or a right nasty piece of work. Current odds - 22/3

Jane Kaczmarek - Jane plays Lois in Malcolm In The Middle. Malcolm
In The Middle seems at first to be a kid’s TV show, but it’s so
fast-paced that it displays a lot of adult sensibilities. Jane isn’t
the best thing in the show - that would be the barmy youngest boy - but
Jane holds the show together as a sort of fried Marge Simpson
character. Current odds - 21/4
