We know what you're thinking. At last the woman behind Serving Sara is finally to face justice.
Actually… no. The cultural police haven't quite swooped in on Elizabeth Hurley yet. But if they did, we guarantee that hecklerspray would be the first tell-tales on the block, grassing her up like that traitorous deformed bloke in rubbish film 300.
Apparently Liz and her coincidentally rich husband Arun Nayer could be facing the slammer after their Rajasthan wedding ceremony broke all sorts of Hindu 'laws'… a bit like complaining because the signing of someone's birth certificate didn't quite affirm their belief in Santa Claus.
According to middle-England village rag The Daily Mail:
"The couple have been charged with an intention to outrage the feelings of Hindus by insulting their religious and ritualistic beliefs under section 295 A of the Indian Penal code. Those found guilty of deliberately insulting the Hindu religion can face a three-year prison sentence."
And according to lawyer HM Saraswat:
"An arrest warrant could be issued for Arun and Liz as soon as the prosecution has made its case – either because they are summonsed to give evidence or they have been found guilty."
The worst thing about all of this? Reports say that Arun's disown-happy father is willing to testify against the 'glamorous' couple. Man – that reminds us of the time our grandad threatened to have us executed because we weren't showing enough enthusiasm during the weekly witch-burning ceremony.
Oh… and before anyone goes accusing us of being prejudiced? We're not saying that Hinduism is of a lesser value than any any other religion. We're just saying that all such superstitious beliefs – Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism – should be discarded and dismissed as the hateful stupid pre-medieval nonsense they are.
Hope you had a good Easter, by the way.
