Dullest. US Weekend Box Office. Ever.

US weekend box office Stomp the yardThink back to this time last week and how different the world is now. China is merrily blasting satellites out of the sky willy-nilly with missiles and the most famous person on Earth is now a screeching reality TV star who gets a bit racist when she's angry.

In times of dramatic change like this, we need to cling onto something stable to stop us getting disorientated and puking everywhere like Britney Spears when she's trying to impress a boy. Stability can typically be found in things like friends and family, but now it can also be found in the US weekend box office. Because this week's US weekend box is freakishly similar to last week's US weekend box office. And, yes, that means that the rubbish-looking Stomp The Yard is still number one. See for yourselves…

A great philosopher once said "It doesn't matter how lousy your movie looks, loads of idiots will go and see it if you bung some dancing in." This is why Stomp The Yard - a film about a boy avenging his brother's death by doing a sort of dance thing in a school canteen - is enjoying its second week at the top of the US weekend box office. But Stomp The Yard isn't the only similarity between this week's US weekend box office and last week's US weekend box office - there's only two new films in the entire top 30. We'll spare you the whole list, though, and just let you know the US weekend box office top five…

1 - Stomp The Yard (Number one in the US weekend box office, just like last week) $13,300,000

2 - Night At The Museum (Number two in the US weekend box office, just like last week) $13,000,000

3 - Dreamgirls (OK, so Dreamgirls has moved up one place from last week's US weekend box office - something we're pinning squarely on it winning a Golden Globe; either that or all the American Idol fans that have been pouring into cinemas to see the tubby girl they didn't want to win sing that song we're all already sick of) $8,711,000

4 - The Hitcher (Hey, it's a film that wasn't in last week's US weekend box office! But thanks to it looking like a bag of shit, we're ruling that it doesn't count) $8,234,000

5 - The Pursuit Of Happyness (Down two spots from last week's US weekend box office, thanks to the sudden mass realisation that - hey - that's not how you spell 'Happiness') $6,700,000
