In humble response to unprecedented public demand, hecklerspray is proud to present yet another edition of our weekly musical recommends. We'll tell you what's absolutely awesome, and you go off and find it yourself. If it sounds like too much work on your part, just remember the work ethic of those who humped to create you.
This week featuring tracks by M83, Final Fantasy, Liz Phair, Interpol, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, and the always awesome Eels.
M83: Teen Angst off Before the Dawn Heals Us
(A recent find for us. These guys are electronic ecstasy. This number's particularly brilliant. Want a song that'll make you uncontrollably crap your pants? This one isn't it. Check out their tune Car Chase Terror)
Final Fantasy: This is the Dream of Win & Regine off Has A Good Home
(Pop music drenched in violin – that's what this is. There's no known relation between the band and the video game of the same name. If the band got giant swords, killed stuff without remorse, and all their fans were pimply, that'd be link enough.)
Liz Phair: What Makes You Happy off Retrospective
(Definitely the most upbeat track of the week, Liz Phair proves she's got a gift for storytelling, crafting a perfect chorus and busting mad rhymes. We like this one an awful lot. That and we'd really like to rub tongues with her because she's famous.)
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone: It Wasn't The Same Somehow off Twinkle Echo
(This coolest band name we've heard in ages. As it's been explained to us, it's a one man band – a man with a butt load of keyboards. It's a good place to keep your keyboards though, as we hear the larger intestine has great acoustics and ample storage.)
Interpol: Not Even Jail off Antics
(Interpol is a powerful good band, a powerful good band that's fond of wearing beat-up suits that is. Many years from now, we'd like this track played at our funeral. Did we say funeral? We meant court proceedings. We don't know what criminal activity it'll all be for, but we've been reading up on the matter.)
Eels: If You See Natalie off Blinking Lights and Other Revelations (Disc 2)
(Hey Larry – hope your sweet wife's getting back on her feet.)
Now listen to these beautiful choices via the magic of Napster
