Being famous must be great. You get to pretend to be an expert about anything you like and people listen. Kinda like this job, except we don’t have as many adoring fans (potential adoring fans – get in touch, we’d love to hear from you).
Teri Hatcher has only done five things in her entire life – 1) She starred in an embarrassing ‘erotic thriller’ when she was young and poor, 2) She was Lois Lane, 3) She was the second worst Bond girl ever after Denise Richards, 4) She starred in the well-received drama series Desperate Housewives, and 5) She staggered about like a tranquilised baby deer in an Elton John music video.
And now she’s ready to do number six – a self-help book of advice and inspiration aimed at 40 year-old women written by Teri Hatcher will hit the bookstores next spring.
Book publisher Hyperion has signed a deal with Teri Hatcher to
release the self-help book – Burnt Toast – next year. Why is Teri Hatcher such an
expert on this subject? She can tell you herself…
“I have had many women approach me, sharing their own stories, and ask
me how it feels to have a second chance at 40. With this book, I truly hope
to reach everyone that I don’t bump into on the street and share my
story.”
After her Superman series ended, Teri Hatcher was on the Hollywood
scrapheap. She was a single mother without a hit series or film to sell
herself with. Then came Desperate Housewives, which a lot of people
like, and she was back in the bigtime, baby.
When she accepted the Golden Globe for best actress in a TV comedy,
she thanked ABC – who make Desperate Housewives – by saying that they
gave her "a second chance at a career when I couldn’t have been a
bigger has-been.”
And now her comeback will be expounded in forensic freaking detail
so that other women of her age can be jealous of her. Sorry, inspired
by her. We got that last bit wrong.
