It's been a while since we heard very much from Charlie Sheen or Denise Richards about their disastrous relationships with each other and various awful big-haired MOR arena rockers, hasn't it?
A couple of months ago, all we ever heard was about the Charlie Sheen/Denise Richards and their new partners and all kinds or lurid allegations against each other, and then everything went quiet. So quiet that, if we're honest, most of us forgot all about it. So God bless Denise Richards for giving a televised interview on Monday all about it just to rake things up and make things interestingly raw again.
Up until a few months ago, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen were mostly famous for being the second-shittest Bond girl in the history of cinema and and actor who'll never be as talented or well-liked as his Dad. But that was before Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen decided to split up. Lots of people split up, though – there's nothing strange about that – but throw in a spot of implied paedophilia along with all the usual drug addiction and abusive phonecall claims and add some distasteful allegations about a dead pornstar and we're almost there.
Now, if we time this split to occur roughly at the same time as the wife's best friend's divorce – that's Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora – and get jiggy with some wifeswapping – Denise Richards hooks up with Richie Sambora, say – and we've got a divorce that makes literally everyone involved look a bit of a tool. But Denise Richards doesn't want to be a tool, she wants to be a big smiling cleavage on legs like she used to be, and if she has to justify herself on a nationally-broadcast TV show, that's what she'll do. Did. That's what Denise Richards did, to Entertainment Tonight, where she did her best to try and untarnish her reputation. This is what Richards had to say about her falling out with Heather Locklear:
"The thing with Heather, that's been hard. You can't help who you fall for and that friendship, unfortunately, was done and wasn't salvageable… People have gone on – 'Would you date your best friend['s husband]?' You know, she wasn't my best friend. She was a close friend in the last couple of years. I hadn't known her my whole life [like] people [are] portraying this. [It's] been tough having people think that I'm such a crappy friend."
And, while she was at it, Denise Richards also decided to take stock about her divorce with Charlie Sheen. On national television:
"Unfortunately the thing with Charlie and I – that was a court document that became public. I didn't hand it to a tabloid and say, 'Here, print this.' And it's sad, and it's horrible that it's gotten to the point that it's gotten to… I was always a people pleaser and I just finally got to the point in my life after having my daughters and going through a really ugly divorce … I've just gotten to the point where life is so short and I just want to be happy."
We don't know about you, but we're taking that last bit to mean Denise won't be wasting her life watching any of her crappy films again. Wise words for us all, there.
