It's a long fall from the top, as David Beckham is discovering. Just a few months ago, David Beckham was the captain of the national football team of the country that invented football – now he just teaches kids.
Perhaps that's a bit misleading – since one of the kids that David Beckham is reportedly coaching is none other than Maddox Jolie Pitt, the adopted son of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Brad Pitt supposedly asked David Beckham to personally teach young Maddox some of his skills. And they're paying off, too – since starting lessons with David Beckham, five-year-old Maddox Jolie-Pitt has been kicking every single Argentinian he's clapped eyes upon. And he's already had it off with Rebecca Loos, too.
If anything, David Beckham seems to have got more famous since losing the England captain gig so dismally at the World Cup. Now that he doesn't have to spend every other summer posing for photos leading his country, David Beckham gets to hang out with his Hollywood chums a bit more. As well as launching his own tatty perfume, David Beckham was supposedly one of the first people to clap eyes on Suri Cruise. In fact, David Beckham and Tom Cruise are such good friends that Tom Cruise is reportedly planning to make the most ill-advised movie ever: a David Beckham biopic starring Katie Holmes as Posh Spice.
But Tom Cruise isn't David Beckham's only Hollywood pal – he's also friends with Tom Cruise's potential Mission: Impossible replacement Brad Pitt. And Brad Pitt has roped David Beckham in for a very special job – he is to teach Brad Pitt's adopted son Maddox how to play football, as Sky reports:
The five-year-old is already enrolled in the David Beckham Soccer Academy in LA. But now Brad wants to make sure his adopted son gets all the extra help he needs. He's asked David Beckham himself to give Mads some personal coaching. "Brad has asked if there is any chance of David giving a one-on-one tutorial," The Sun quotes a source as saying.
It's a win-win situation for everyone involved, really. David Beckham gets another set of high-profile moviestar friends and Brad Pitt won't have to look after Maddox while Angelina Jolie's off pretending to be deep and objectivist. And David Beckham's impressed with the speed in which Maddox Jolie-Pitt has been picking up all of his skills, too – Maddox has only just enroled with David Beckham and already he's not quite as good as Aaron Lennon.
